Job Description:

DESCRIPTION

The successful candidate will work under the direction of a Project Engineer or Project Manager in the Indianapolis office to prepare roadway and/or structural bridge plans, technical specifications, quantity calculations and cost estimates. The candidate may also to work on-site under the direction of a Construction Manager assisting with and documenting construction inspection activities, researching and solving problems in the field, and assuring conformance to plans/specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Prepare roadway and highway plans, specifications, quantity calculations and cost estimates
  • Create roadway corridor models
  • Complete redline mark-ups in MicroStation for plan production
  • Prepare structural bridge plans, specifications, quantity calculations and cost estimates
  • Assist senior engineers within large multi-disciplinary design team
  • Perform periodic on-site construction inspection/observation
  • Monitor contractor schedules
  • Document field progress and quantities for contractor payment

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Working toward a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or similar program
  • Focus on Transportation or Structural Practice preferred
  • Software proficiency - Microsoft Office
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in organization and presentation of documentation
  • CADD experience a plus

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $15- $30 per hour. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
