Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Racing Clocker is responsible for timing workouts during thoroughbred training hours by performing the following duties. Available in the Clocker's Stand during training hours each day to time horses working out. Coordinates with trainers, exercise riders and gap attendants/spotters in correctly identifying each horse that works. Provides a detailed sheet of workouts following training hours, including the distance and intensity of the work as well as if the work was performed breaking from the starting gate. Faxes workouts each day to the Daily Racing Form and Equibase; posts for the public by the horsemen. Will abide by all safety requirements as outlined in the Safety Manual or as required by individual departments and/or job functions. All other duties assigned by Management.

QUALFICATIONS

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or

equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess strong communication skills, be flexible and detail oriented. Ability to read and write; basic computer knowledge; active listening skills; ability to meet goals and deadlines; knowledge of horse racing terms, betting and programs. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be able to obtain an Indiana Horse Racing License.
