After on-site training this position has the potential to work a hybrid schedule (a combination of days working from home and days in the office).

Job Summary:

The Robotics Development & Integration Engineer will focus on software and electronic development and integration activities associated with small, unmanned aircraft. This will range from sensor identification, testing, and integration to development of embedded systems drivers and software architecture and will include field testing and debugging.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

New hardware bring up:


  • Exercising interfaces and functions of fresh unused boards before integrating into system

  • Trouble shooting and rework to identify causes of issues that arise during bring up

  • Understand and interpret electronic schematics

Create Python scripts to interact with custom hardware and development kits:


  • Collecting data from sensors and tweaking parameters

  • Prototype integration into existing system using development kits or custom breakout boards

Develop embedded software:


  • Test framework

  • Implement and integrate new features into existing code base

System integration ofmulti-board and multi-processor systems (robotics, drones, etc.):


  • Use existing software tools (or create new ones as needs arise) to bench test system level functionality or diagnose problems that arise

  • Work with (or participate as part of) flight team to test and characterize system level performance and functions

  • Help fix issues to achieve expected/required performance

  • Work with Pixhawk Flight Computer/ MAVlink messaging

Job Qualifications:


  • Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.

  • 3+ years of Robotics, Drone, or similar systems experience desired.

  • Bachelors or advanced degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mechatronics,orrelated field.

  • Experience in board bring-up and peripheral integration.

  • Expertise inCand/or C++ programming on embedded, Linux, or similar systems.

  • Familiar with basicembedded software techniques.

  • Lab skills (o-scope, logic analyzers, etc.).

  • Experience ieading teams is desired.
