We are currently seeking a Senior Surety Inside Underwriter to join the surety team.  In this role, the underwriter will be responsible for surety underwriting and service within an assigned territory. The individual will help develop, support and maintain positive agency relationships.   

Responsibilities include:

•  Underwriting and assessing risk and helping to market company products and services.


• Reviewing and analyzing financial statements, work-in-progress schedules, credit and reference checks, account setup and maintenance.


• Managing assigned territory to achieve new business, profitability, rate, and retention goals.


• Developing and maintaining strong agency relationships and superior service standards.


• Accountable for sound underwriting practices, profitable growth and portfolio management.


• Mentoring and serving as a technical resource to teammates with development and the delivery of training programs

Preferred location for the role is at our Sarasota, Florida corporate office with the ability to work a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office, 2 days remotely); or remotely from one of the our five current operating regions.

Experience

• * Bachelor’s degree (Note: Relevant, progressively responsible work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.)


• * Minimum of four years contract surety experience.


• * Advanced ability to analyze financial information, credit reports, contracts, and underlying bond obligations.


• * Advanced ability to determine customer needs, provide solutions and price business appropriately.


• * Strong local knowledge of environment; including knowledge of surety agents and competitors and desirable and undesirable bond forms and bond form language.


• * Excellent communication, negotiation, interpersonal and organizational skills.


• * Ability to analyze, define and solve problems; the use of good judgment and decision-making.

• * AFSB designation preferred.
