I. Job Summary: The Manager, Safety & Environmental is responsible for enterprise-wide safety strategy and operational implementation of safety strategy, policies and procedures. This role oversees the development, implementation and monitoring of the Safety and Environmental programs for Shentel, ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal regulations. The role is required to understand, effectively communicate and help enforce safety standards and regulations throughout all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities:

Essential

a. Ensures compliance with all applicable local, state and federal safety laws and codes governing environmental safety and health.

b. Develops and maintains policies and procedures to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations and guidelines.

c. Serves in a leadership capacity for the Field-level Safety Committee and the Corporate Safety Committee. Responsible for assuring appropriate information is collected, reports are completed and submitted for review by the Safety Committees.

d. Develops and implements accident investigation, data analysis and recurrence prevention programs and procedures, collaborating with cross functional leadership and Human Resources.

e. Coordinates an effective system of identifying potential safety hazards within Shentel work enviornments. Works to correct or minimize all hazards to ensure a safe environment for employees, vendors and the general public.

f. Reviews and evaluates new safety and/or environmental tools and equipment for appropriateness and effectiveness of use.

g. Provides guidance to leaders and employees on all matters related to safety. Conducts research and analysis on safety topics, as needed.

h. Responds and provides assistance to any and all emergency situations.

i. Observes all company safety procedures at all times.

j. Stewardship of the brand to include embodiment of the Shentel Way by ensuring appropriate use of the brand (name, logo, company, appearance, and attitude) within their respective team and organization.

k. Responsible for maintaining, ensuring accuracy and timely completion all OSHA and Environmntal annual reporting requirements (OSHA 300 log and DEQ Tier 2 reporting).

Non-Essential

a. Partner with Human Resources and Finance to oversee Workers' Compensation program and documentation. Interfaces with Workers Compensation insurance carrier on claims management and keeps necessary parties informed.

b. Monitors and reports monthly, quarterly and yearly safety and environmental metrics, as requested.

c. Designs, coordinates and, as needed, conducts safety training for all levels of employees. Tracks training and maintains training records, partnering with Organizational Learning & Development, as needed.

d. Coordinates regulatory agency surveys and inspections of Shentel facilities. Conducts on-site reviews and audits of Shentel facilities.

e. Assists with other projects, as assigned.

III. Qualification Requirements:

a. Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field with emphasis on safety is preferred.

b. Knowledge & Experience Level:

• 8 to 10 years of experience in safety administration is preferred;

• 2-5 years of Telecom, Cable/Broadband, Construction Industry experience, preferred.

• Knowledge of and experience in implementing and maintaining a safety and environmental program for multi-state enterprise is preferred;

• Knowledge of safety administration including OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, EPA, DEQ and applicable federal, state and local laws.

c. Computer skills: Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint);

d. Communication skills: strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to research complex questions, ability to conduct complex analysis of claims, budget projections, etc.

e. LSP, CSP, SMS, ASO and/or similar certification(s) are preferred
