Primary Function of Position:
This highly skilled manufacturing engineer will support the Ion platform. This engineer must be able to develop new and improved manufacturing processes by collaborating across functions to solve a wide variety of technical process and equipment problems. They will have strong technical experience developing and improving fiber optic and automation processes.

Roles & Responsibilities:


  • Create, maintain and improve "low to mid-volume" manufacturing lines; specifying and/or refining BOMs, workflow processes, manufacturing plan and detailed work instructions.

  • Develop manufacturing lines - building prototype parts, training operators, identifying fixtures/tooling needed and conducting process validation.

  • Design, document, procure, qualify, implement, and improve fixtures, tools, and equipment.

  • Define and document preventive maintenance and calibration (PMC) processes for newly introduced fixtures and tools.

  • Evaluate manufacturing line from a risk perspective (PFMEA) to incorporate and validate critical tests used in manufacturing.

  • Accountable for the validation and qualification of manufacturing equipment and processes to production status leveraging standard qualification approaches (IQ/OQ/DQ/PQ).

  • Provide production support of sustaining and startup manufacturing lines as needed.

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects with respect to first pass yield, cycle time reduction, product reliability, capacity enhancement and cost reduction.

  • Provide product and process DFx (Manufacturing, Assembly) input to enhance manufacturability of new products.

  • Maintain compliance with medical device quality system including corrective action closure and Change Order implementation.

  • Provides technical support analyzing and /or performing failure analysis for discrepant production components, assemblies, and field returns.

  • Provide resource planning and budget estimates for product and process improvements, tooling development, and testing.

Qualifications
Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:


  • Minimum BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Systems Engineering, or similar relevant experience.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as design or manufacturing engineer supporting product with mechanical, electromechanical, or electro optical content.

  • Must have experience releasing new product or manufacturing line through design/build process to production.

  • Must possess strong communication skills to interface with technicians, product development, planning, purchasing, regulatory, inspection, customer support and clinical marketing teams.

  • Proven technical, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Diligent organizational skills and proven ability to simultaneously work on several fast-paced projects.

  • Able to travel periodically (10%), including internationally.

  • Meets at least five of the following criteria:

    • Training in Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma principles.

    • Prior responsibility for process, equipment, or product validation/verification.

    • Experience with managing product and process changes.

    • Experience in an ISO 13485, ISO 9001, or medical device manufacturing environment.

    • Experience with complex device manufacturing.

    • Experience with ERP systems (preferred SAP).

    • Experience with line duplication and/or transfer.

    • Mechanical CAD software experience (SolidWorks or equivalent).

    • Bilingual (English and Spanish).



We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits and equity, and the anticipated pay rate for this position is $93,100 to $133,900. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including location, skills, and experience level.
