Job Description:

This senior-level Partner position requires a driven, client-facing leader who is interested in being part of ERM’s thriving community of outstanding professionals who combine strong consulting, people leadership, and business development skills with a technical foundation to drive growth for clients and accounts within the Great Lakes and Northeast business unit.  The preferred location(s) for this position are Boston, Chicago, or Minneapolis

The Business Unit Managing Partner (BUMP) has the overall commercial, people, and operational responsibility for their respective business unit (BU) with a focus on driving performance, growth and profitability.  The BUMP must champion ERM’s strategy and continue the journey within the BU of working with our Key and HGHV clients while aligning people to client and development opportunities.

Main job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Working closely with leadership to develop the strategy and implementation plan for expansion in the Business Unit, while championing ERM’s global strategy and strategic imperatives.

  • Achieving the BU financial budget, including sales, utilization, net revenue, EBITDA and minimum RON.

  • Developing work with key clients in the region through close interaction with the Regional Commercial Director, Regional Industry Leaders, (Chemicals, Energy, Finance, Mining, Pharma, Power, Tech) and Account Directors/Managers.

  • Championing and leading people leadership strategies being used to develop leaders and engage and connect people to opportunities and active projects. 

  • Participating as part of the North America Leadership Team in developing growth strategies for the Region and supporting the overall financial success of the Business Unit and Region by working collaboratively with other Business Unit Managing Partners.

  • Engaging with North America Leadership team and BU Partners to develop and implement a strategy to motivate, retain and hire top talent in the market.

  • Managing the performance of the Partners and employees and drive accountability within the Business to meet BU and Regional standards and expectations.

Position Requirements:


  • Proven P&L leadership history of US $50M+ revenue in an EHS consulting services firm.

  • 15 years of experience in the local environmental consulting market.

  • Background of consistently achieving / exceeding annual revenue and profit targets via innovative and inspirational leadership combined with entrepreneurial flexibility.

  • Built, guided, managed, mentored, motivated and rewarded teams while setting and delivering revenue / profit targets.

  • Big-picture thinker and successful track record of building trusted relationships with target clients.

  • Possesses teamwork, communications and management skills needed for success in a rapidly growing, matrixed and changing organization.

  • Reputation for being highly ethical and working very collaboratively.

  • Strong understanding of integrated solutions aligned with issues facing the BU specific sectors.

  • Extensive experience scaling client accounts, building referenceable client relationships and delivering sustainability solutions.
