Field Service Technician to perform pre-installation visits, direct installation and startup, instruct operators on function of equipment, instruct operators and supervisors on safeties, and review customer manuals with Customer Production and Maintenance personnel. Training of Maintenance personnel. Assist and aid Engineering and Sales in connection with company line of equipment. Submit reports in connection with the installation of new equipment, aftermarket rebuilds and troubleshooting calls.

Purpose:

Provides hands on or oversight of the repair, maintenance, installation and operation of JBT X-ray equipment in the field. Provides information and promotes JBT products that will benefit customer's operations.

Embraces the Lean Enterprise strategy and adheres to all safety policies.



Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Percent of Time Spent:

Performs or oversees installation of all equipment at customer's site according to the sales order, including operation, maintenance and sanitation training, often unassisted. Oversees sub-contractors (electrical, mechanical, welders, fabricators) as required. Completes required documentation in an accurate and timely manner.

Troubleshoots and resolves application-related issues/problems in customers' facilities. Contacts other resources as needed to resolve issue/problem. Inspects equipment and generates documentation.

Performs repairs to X-ray equipment as necessary. Maintains and secures tools, equipment, test devices, mobile devices and assigned service vehicle.

Trains customers in proper machine maintenance and operation of the entire X-ray product line. Creates training aids for customers and fellow employees. Documents findings that improve quality and/or efficiency.

Follows-up with customers on all open issues. Schedules courtesy visits with customers. Communicates opportunities to X-ray PLM. Works on process improvements with X-ray dept. Reviews and maintains daily e-mail correspondence including field schedule updates.

Enters daily notes in CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software. Enters time and activities into CRM software. Fills out bimonthly expense reports and time logs. Arranges travel, accommodations and contacts. Creates documentation as needed to share with fellow employees.

Supports customers, engineering and internal sales staff on issues involving all X-ray products. Provides assistance to the Equipment Support Specialist through documentation and by answering questions on problem solving of issues/problems.

Conducts live equipment demonstrations. Assists at trade shows and demonstrate equipment features and benefits.

Occasional Responsibilities:

Performs other duties as assigned. Takes training courses as required to stay current with new technology and OSHA safety standards.



Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills:

Minimum Associates Degree or equivalent industry experience.

Advanced knowledge of X-ray, C++/C#, electrical controls and industrial communication networks. C++/C# knowledge should include programming skills for troubleshooting.

Ability to read and understand electrical and pneumatic schematics.

Extensive knowledge of AC/DC voltage systems, both single and 3 phase systems.

Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment and electrical controls.

Above average computer skills including Microsoft Office software + Salesforce (CRM) software.

Ability to upload and down load programs.

Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Effective communicator in writing and orally.

Customer friendly personality.

Ability to perform duties independently, reliably, and with minimal supervision.

Willingness and ability to travel up to 60% of the time, primarily domestically.

Experience:

Extensive experience with C++/C#

Solid technical and commercial experience, preferably in the x-ray food processing industry.
