Manager, Tech Ops - Systems & Software

Our Research & Development team is essential as we continuously develop and enhance our solutions to keep pace with complex requirements around Cloud infrastructure as well as staying current with the latest technology standards. As a hands-on manager for Systems & Software, you will build and lead a team of system / network administrators and infrastructure specialists, and software engineers who are responsible for delivering a superior Cloud, Infrastructure, Security, Integration, and Networking solutions.

This remote role welcomes candidates anywhere in Canada and the US.

What your impact will be:

• Regular 1-1 meetings with members of your team, help mentor and unblock them


• Support their career development, give them regular feedback, and be their advocate


• Provide short-term and long-term goals for your team and help them attain those goals


• Contribute as an infrastructure expert on the team to design best-in-class systems


• Be hands-on with troubleshooting, configuration, setup, escalation, and provisioning of infrastructure solutions


• Manage, coordinate, and prioritize your team’s project activities and daily tasks, as well as manage issue escalations with 3rd party vendors and partners


• Lead the implementation of the information security program, including industry certifications, such as SOC 2 Type 2 certification and compliance


• Coordinate projects with partners and vendors


• Ensure that there is consistent collaboration and communication across your team


• Generate effort estimates for provisioning of projects, including sizing of servers and networking equipment


• Interface and communicate with all departments to understand changing priorities to help establish delivery dates and project risk


• Travel occasionally within North America to trade shows and customer sites

What we are looking for:

• A minimum of 10 years as a network and systems administrator


• A minimum of 3 years as a Team Lead or Resource Manager


• Effectively worked with all levels of management across the organization


• Directly communicated with customers and provided exceptional customer service


• A leader who can manage a team as well as contribute directly with problem solving


• Experience with Cloud, infrastructure, site reliability engineering (SRE), DevOps, security, integration, networking, virtual machines, backups, disaster recovery, Internet Service Providers, firewalls, SSL, LDAP, OAuth, SSO, and Linux

What would make you stand out:

• Experience with tools/software such as Fortinet, Jira, Git, Docker, Ansible, Terraform, Slack and Confluence are considered an asset


• Red Hat/Oracle Enhanced Linux, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure / AWS / Azure Cloud, CompTIA, CISSP, and VMware certifications are considered an asset
