As the Senior Mechanical Engineer for this role, you will provide mechanical engineering leadership to the Neenah Cold Spring Facility (NCSF) through design, development, optimization, and problem solving within the manufacturing, technical services, or reliability areas. You will have expertise across multiple technologies and will have a demonstrated ability to effectively provide specific project work direction to a broad range of team members.

In this role, you will:


  • Develop and deliver equipment and processes that meet safety requirements, policies and guidelines. Provides for the safety and well-being of operators, maintenance and other personnel


  • Lead facility improvement projects with a financial scope of up to $10 million from conception through commissioning. In addition, support larger projects as a member of the project team. Lead Project Management from inception with specifying, selecting, procuring, installing, engineering check-outs and starting-up associated equipment. Receive direction from Maintenance Manager or Engineering Manager in the form of specific objectives


  • Develop knowledge and skills in leadership of the application of engineering principles, scientific analysis, LEAN principles, and project management


  • Seeks, recognizes, defines and solves complex technical issues to root cause to achieve objectives


  • Participates in the development of others within the area of the incumbent's expertise, including the creation of knowledge transfer documentation materials


  • Identify and document issues and opportunities with existing equipment.  Support maintenance personnel when troubleshooting complex issues


  • Provide input to capital teams so proposed changes are in-line with the 5-year vision. Involved with early design, technology, equipment selection, sizing, location, etc. Oversight and support during installation and commissioning


  • Liaison with operation teams so impact of operational changes is understood, and solutions are in place when needed

To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications:


  • A Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university.


  • At least 12 years engineering experience in a variety of technical or operational assignments in a high-speed consumer product manufacturing and/or staff environment.


  • A demonstrated ability to perform in cross-functional teams to achieve objectives within required timeframes.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Demonstrated ability of writing and presenting updates to leadership


  • Experience with air compressors, dryers, and distribution systems as well as boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, air washers, HVACs, heat exchangers


  • Experience in Process Air Handling, Process Dust Mitigation, Trim & Culling systems, and Process Vacuum systems for high-speed manufacturing


  • Experience with the preparation of appropriation documents including appropriation write-ups, appropriation estimates, asset detailing, asset write-offs, etc.


  • Multiple years of experience in a variety of mill manufacturing and staff support or capital project assignments, including maintenance, utilities, and asset support


  • Experience working with external technical service providers
