S&T Color Technologist, Senior at PPG INDUSTRIES INC in Cheswick, Pennsylvania

Job Description:

As a S&T Color Technologist, Senior , you will be responsible for the Cheswick, PA Plant, capable of establishing, planning, managing projects and responding to development and technical support activities for the marine coatings and protective and high-performance coatings business.

Key Responsibilities

• Solve the multiple requirements that are requested in the area such as substitutions of pigments or colorants due to shortage of the supplier, color adjustments in batches manufactured by the Little Rock plant, prioritize the compliance dates and negotiate with the different areas the prioritization based on available resources.
• Ensure that the color formulas developed in the laboratory work and are reproducible in the plant, distribution centers and dealers
• Will also be involved with production scale-up, launches, and maintenance of product line.
• Support manufacturing and field concerns through problem solving and root cause analysis.
• Frequent communication with internal and external R&D scientists, product, plant, marketing and sales managers/ salespeople.
• Share ancillary responsibilities such as equipment maintenance and calibration, ordering raw materials, proper disposal of paint waste or raw materials and lab supplies, competitor benchmarking and other testing, and other support duties.
• Perform color matching work.

Qualifications

• BA/BS/MS in Chemistry, Polymer Science or Chemical Engineering or any related sciences with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
• Precise color perception to match standards.
