KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: A massage therapist is someone who is trained and skilled in massage therapy for medicinal benefits. Massage therapy is the manipulation of the soft-tissue and muscles of the body and it is used for many different reasons. Among the reasons for massage therapy is to relax overworked and tired muscles; to treat pain that results from any number of ailments; to aid in comfort measures for patients; and to support overall good health.

Additionally, the Massage Therapist will:

  • Provide 30-50 minute massages for patients in home and facilities.
  • Guide patients through our services and help comfort them through different types of massage that will benefit them.
  • Obtain detailed information about each patient from the case manager and follow the care plan as directed by the case manager.
  • Communicate to the clinical manager and case manager when appointments are rescheduled, missed, or late.
  • Communicate with clinical manager and case managers when time off is requested. Company policy is that the clinical manager is notified of planned time off, at least two weeks in advance.
  • Listen to clients during massages and adjust techniques to meet their needs.
  • Communicate to case managers when patients show a change in condition and/or signs of pain.
  • Provides patient/family, case manager, and facilities with the required written information: Visit schedule, including frequency of visits.
  • The clinical record shall contain notes for each service provided. A clinical note will be completed for each visit made to a patients home (including a private residence, assisted living facility, group homes, or skilled nursing facility) within 48 hours of the visit.

Qualifications


  • Maintains the agency's mission, philosophy, and core values.
  • Ensures compliance with agency policies and procedures regarding operations/processes, including but not limited to those regarding patient care, patient complaints, incidents, safety, and emergency management.
  • Always maintains patient confidentiality, including all HIPAA regulations.
Regulatory Requirements

  • Licensed or registered in the State of PA.
  • Must pass a criminal background check & MVR check.
  • Completed health statements acknowledging the ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Valid state drivers license.
  • Proof of current automobile insurance.
  • Current CPR card; On-line CPR certification accepted; Hands-on CPR certification preferred.
  • TB testing per agency policy; (1 or 2 step TB skin test within 12 months of hire & annual TB symptom screening thereafter).
Industry experience

  • Hospice and Palliative Care experience preferred.
EDUCATION:

  • Certificate in massage therapy.
