Job Description:

B&W is looking to hire a remote working Field Service Engineer based out of its Houston, TX facility for providing best in the industry expertise and support on a broad range of B&W utility, industrial, and environmental products to our customers.

Field Service Engineer (FSE) will report through B&W's Diamond Power Facility located in Lancaster, OH and assist with site troubleshooting, overseeing installation and repairs, turnkey services, and general customer support with a primary focus on the Diamond Power sootblower product line. FSE's secondary focus will be on the Allen-Sherman-Hoff material handling product line, providing similar onsite services where applicable.

This position requires extensive airline and automobile travel (~75%).

Additional duties of the Field Service engineers include:


  • Collecting and evaluating field data. Troubleshooting system errors and working with site mechanics to repair.
  • Working with customers, account executives, vendors and sublet vendors with assistance and guidance from District Engineer or senior engineer.
  • Preparing technical reports including service and special reports.
  • Working as part of commissioning teams on project startups of Submerged Grind Conveyor ASH systems, along with other bottom and fly ash systems.
  • Performing site activities including: OEM inspections, condition assessments, operation evaluations, troubleshooting, and technical advising & consulting.
  • Providing construction technical support and outage management.

Field Service is a fast paced, mechanical based job that provides great variety in a person's workload. FSE will work closely with senior engineers and the District Engineer during a training phase. Service work provides a challenging and rewarding job and steep learning curve in which the engineer develops practical knowledge of power plants and all aspects of B&W products.

  • Bachelor's Degree in ETM, Industrial and Systems, Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or similar Engineering technology or related field, or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, and ability to work alone or lead a group of workers
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Mechanical based job, controls & electrical experience is a plus.
  • Ability and desire to travel
