Kent Precision Foods Group has an opening for a Process Engineer within the Operations Department in Muscatine, Iowa. This position strives to streamline our daily operations and ensures our manufacturing facilities operate safely and efficiently. They are comfortable communicating with senior leadership, site teams and across departments to solve problems and improvise as needed. The Process Engineer will work on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously and effectively estimate, prioritize, and manage their time. This is a salaried position with a complete benefits package reporting to the Engineering Lead.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards
Project manage and develop ways to eliminate wastefulness in the manufacturing processes of products and/or services to control costs and maximize efficiencies
Oversee implementation activities of various contractors and other support personnel allocated to support the completion of assigned projects
Prepares and oversees capital project improvements through inception, design, justification, and measurement.
Work directly with operations team in troubleshooting and resolving process issues
Responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping
Monitors operations and leads corrective actions to drive operational excellence
Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
Develop and design robust manufacturing concepts to simplify and improve processes and ensure best practice
Create and maintain required manufacturing process documentation, including process flow charts, capacity and utilization studies, time and motion studies, standard work, cycle time analysis and line balancing
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gain insight and direction
Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts
Ensures compliance with health and safety laws, regulations, and guidelines, including EPA and OSHA requirements
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
Internship or co-op experience in an operations or manufacturing environment strongly desired
Computer literacy
Understand, create, and update process flows; including documentation and standard operating procedures
Interest and general understanding of lean manufacturing principles
Proficiency with analytical tools, workflow time study, and process balancing
Ability to use AutoCAD or related CAD system is beneficial
Strong project management skills
EDUCATION:
BS degree (Preferably Industrial, Mechanical, or Chemical studies)
TRAVEL:
Approximately 40-50% with the potential for more travel during the project implementations.
