JOB SUMMARY

Oversee all product development and design engineering activities through effective management of Project Managers and engineering staff. Manage and enhance customer relationships while being fully accountable for project budgets and schedules. Technically capable of developing, managing and evaluating very highly complex technology projects. This includes developing complex statement of work (SOW), business proposals, project schedule / financials etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruitment and Retention:
·         Recruit, interview and drive the hiring process of Project Managers.
·         Communicate criteria to recruiters for engineering staff position candidates.
·         Monitor team member turnover; identify key factors that can be improved; make improvements.

Employee and Team Development:
·         Identify individual and team strengths and development needs on an ongoing basis.
·         Create and/or validate training curriculum in area of responsibility for lower level project managers.
·         Coach and mentor lower level project management staff to deliver excellence to every internal and external customer.
·         Create and managing succession plans for the project management function.

Performance Management:
·         Work with the BU to create regional business strategies for key existing customer accounts.
·         Goal orientation and action-focused, pragmatic and self-disciplined, good at project planning, organizing, communication, team motivation and delegation.
·         Solicit ongoing feedback from Business Unit, peers and team member on team member’s contribution to the team.
·         Drive individuals and the team to continuously improve in key operational metrics and the achievement of the organizational goals.
·         Coordinate activities of large teams and keep them focused in times of crises.
·         Ensure recognition and rewards are managed fairly and consistently in area of responsibility.
Quotation Process:
·         Develop and manage existing customer relationships globally in conjunction with BU.
·         Proactively seek new customer relationships both internally and externally - regionally.
·         Extract request for quotes (RFQ) from targeted customers.
·         Drive regional - RFQ business creation process and Jabil Engineering Services for quote completion.
·         Submittal of quote and follow up as needed – both internal and external to Jabil.

Communication:
·         Provide weekly communication forum for the exchange of ideas and information for projects including project status, resolving project issues, problems, and changes.
·         Organize verbal and written ideas clearly and use an appropriate business style.
·         Establish and maintain communications with both customer personnel and senior management.

FUNCTIONAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Strategy and Direction:
·         Assist with business and/or contract negotiations.

·         Advise Project Manager’s on overall financial health of all programs being managed.
·         Provide support with identifying and preparing new business proposals.
·         Know and understand the strategic direction of division.
·         Define, develop and implement a strategy which contributes to technology services strategic directions.
·         Develop an understanding of the workcell business strategy as it pertains to technology services.
·         Provide regular updates to Business Unit on the execution of the strategy.
·         Ensure all products and services are delivered in accordance with contractual requirements and are on time and within budget.
·         Conduct formal design reviews with customers to ensure design(s) meet customer design requirements.

Cost Management:
·         Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems (i.e. modification of responsibilities or consolidation of tasks, elimination of non-value-added processes, or complete re-engineering of processes and systems).
·         Utilize tools to monitor departmental cost and cost trends, striving continuously to improve value.
·         Provide feedback to peers on cost and cost trends.

Forecast Development and Accuracy:
·         Prepare timely forecasts for projects.
·         Compare forward forecast results to historical actual results for trend assessment and analysis.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Ensure all of the project's technological requirements and/or objectives are correctly gathered, understood and properly translated for execution.
·         Own global economics –profits, margins.
·         Manage the ongoing planning, budgeting, and management staff.
·         Own recognizing project's Key Success Indicators and manage the work within scope, quality, time and cost constraints.
·         Own project risk reviews and appropriate mitigation.
·         Own facilitating communication as appropriate to all involved and "manage" the stakeholders. This includes escalate issues to the next level of management.
·         Own forecasting project budget and HR needs for current and future site needs.
·         Be accountable for overall project success - including cost, schedule, quality, and scope management.
·         Be accountable for customer satisfaction / relationship both internal and external.
·         Understand and exceed customer needs and expectations.
·         Ensure all sensitive and confidential information is handled appropriately.
·         Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor.
·         Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy
·         May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

·        Bachelor's degree required

  • Minimum experience of 5-7 years in managing multiple projects simultaneously.

·         Demonstrated high performance orientation, detail orientation, market knowledge and sound judgment
·         Demonstrated ability to build and leverage partnerships, implement change and manage projects.
·         Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of Jabil’s software packages in an integrated system such as SAP.
·         Strong knowledge of global and regional logistics operations and industry.
·         Strong proficiency in determining logistics requirements to enable company’s business goals and objectives with ability to devise and implement strategy to achieve targets.
·         Strong financial and analytical ability. Proficiency in managing business analytics to determine optimum company footprint.
·         Strong knowledge of international direct and indirect taxes as well as global customs regimes.
·         Proven track record of successful change management accomplishments, implementing and management continuous productivity and cost reduction programs.
·         Strong and convincing communication skills.

·         Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and e-mail skills required.
