About the Warehouse Supervisor Job

Work hours: 12-hour workdays (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 3PM-3AM), must be flexible to help support a warehouse operation that runs 24/7

The Warehouse Supervisor supervises and coordinates the activities of the workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment.

Job Duties include:


  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; maintaining harmony among workers and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Responsible for complying with customer service and quality standards.
  • Study shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
  • Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Determine space requirements and position of shipment in warehouses and trucks and lays out position of shipment.
  • Determine routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states.
  • Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seal loaded truck doors.
  • Inspect material handling equipment for defects and notify maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair. Maintain vehicle maintenance report.
  • Direct movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
  • Compile records of unfilled orders. Post weight and shipping charges. Prepare bills of lading.
  • Follow and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (G.M.P.'s) and company policies at all times.
  • Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
  • Prepare composite reports from individual reports of subordinates.
  • Adjust errors and complaints.
  • Responsible for meeting attendance standards of start and end time and work as scheduled and complying with all safety, health, and environmental regulations as prescribed by law and policies of the employer.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 5 + years of warehouse/supervisory experience; will consider related education as part of experience requirement.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field a plus.
  • General knowledge of material handling equipment.
  • Knowledge of KPI's.
  • Distribution center knowledge a plus.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite; Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain harmonious working relations and respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, employees, management or members of the business community.
  • Experience in a union environment preferred.
  • Experience with an ERP system required, SAP or DLX preferred.
  • Knowledge of a time keeping system preferred.
  • Knowledge of stand-up lift and ability to train staff on its use a plus.
  • Ability to administer first aid/C.P.R. a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced environment, work well with others in stressful situations and meet deadlines as necessary.
  • Ability and willingness to work in excess of 40 hours per week.
