POSITION OVERVIEW


This financial accounting position will have the opportunity to directly contribute to the development, construction and operations of Cheniere’s exciting liquefaction and pipeline expansion projects. The Staff/Senior Accountant, Operations Accounting will work directly with the Director, Operations Accounting along with additional Senior/Lead Accountants within Operations Accounting team, in support of internal Cheniere clients, to assist with gathering project-related information and reporting project financial results.   


Staff/Senior Accountant will record monthly financial accounting transactions and update forecasts related to Cheniere’s major construction and business development projects. In addition, this position will help support the administration of the Oracle Project Accounting module and perform regular compliance analysis for Cheniere’s Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) policy and fixed asset place in service processes. 


The Staff/Senior Accountant, Operations Accounting position allows an entry-level opportunity to join Cheniere’s Operations Accounting team and learn Cheniere operations, growth construction projects and day-to-day accounting department practices in a supportive, team environment. 


 


KNOWLEDGE


Staff/Senior Accountant, Operations Accounting will hold an understanding of financial accounting standards and procedures, as well as apply knowledge to properly record financial transactions. 


 


RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES



  • Calculate and input monthly accrual and correction/adjustment journal entries in Oracle ERP system. 

  • Perform monthly account reconciliations for accounts assigned and ensure proper presentation of account balance.

  • Gather information from other departments to understand non-recurring financial transactions, as needed. 

  • Assist in the preparation and loading of project forecast data.

  • Assist in the administration of the Oracle Projects Accounting module.

  • Complete monthly analysis to ensure compliance with the Cheniere Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) policy.

  • Complete monthly review of remaining project CIP balances and determine proper treatment with the assistance of the operations site controllers and supporting staff.

  • Assist in the forecasting and analysis of project and departmental costs for monthly presentation though the use of Cheniere’s Hyperion forecasting database and system.


 


QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS)




  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required. Active CPA certification, or currently working towards certification completion is preferred.  


  • Experience: 


    • Staff Accountant: 1-3 years of progressive responsibility in Corporate Accounting, Operations/Project Accounting, external auditing, forecasting and budgeting and/or additional relevant experience. Pipeline and Oil & Gas Accounting experience preferred. 


    • Senior Accountant: 3-6 years of progressive responsibility in Corporate Accounting, Operations/Project Accounting, external auditing, forecasting and budgeting and/or additional relevant experience. Pipeline and Oil & Gas Accounting experience preferred.




  • Skills:

    • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.

    • Understanding of Oracle v12 ERP system. 

    • Use of Hyperion Essbase/Smartview and Hyperion Planning.

    • Excellent analytical and deductive reasoning skills.

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    • Self-motivated and ability to work independently.

    • Experience with supervising personnel and coordinating teams and project tasks. 

    • Able to interact with all levels of management.

    • Commitment to customer service.

    • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment

FREEDOM TO ACT


Staff/Senior Accountant, Operations Accounting will work with the Lead and Senior Accountants and will receive direction from the Director, Operations Accounting. 


 


WORK CONDITIONS



  • Job is performed in a typical office environment, but is subject to time pressures and constraints, and is often dependent on input from others. 

  • Occasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends. 

  • Periodically travel as business requires.

  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations.
