Manufacturing Manager - Finishing Department

Our Manufacturing Manager provides leadership and supervision to Incom's Product Lines which includes production, product development and planning. Provides expertise and support in all areas of responsibility to ensure the department meets customer expectations and achieves key performance metrics. Initiates and/or supports the development and implementation of initiatives to improve safety, quality, on-time delivery, and productivity while driving down cost within the operation.

Responsibilities


  • Provide leadership to Product Lines to achieve all goals in Quality, Delivery, Cost and Safety.
  • Lead and develop a Culture of Excellence, focusing on Quality, Innovation, Character and Teamwork, remaining Customer Focused and Results Driven.
  • Accountable for the achievement of the production schedule and plan. Works with the Planner and Sales to plan, direct and coordinate the activities of the production departments. Ensure labor and equipment capacity are adequate to meet the production schedule. Ensure department managers consistently execute the schedule. Plan ahead and foresee any obstacles that may impede the production schedule.
  • Develop methods and procedures to ensure manufacturing satisfies customer demand and commitments. Ensure that customer issues and technical issues regarding new/existing products are resolved in a timely and cost-efficient manner
  • Works with Engineering Manager to prioritize engineering and technical resources, ensuring activities are coordinated and aligned with customer needs and departmental and corporate goals.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Manufacturing, in conjunction with engineers, Quality Department, and technicians.
  • Manage risk, identify contingency plans, identify and influence necessary course corrections, creatively solve problems, and communicate order and production status and activities across multiple levels of management.
  • Work with Department Managers to review and analyze production data captured in Incom's ERP system using built-in reports and tools as well as external data analysis techniques.
  • Work with Sales and the Product Development team in the coordination and success of any new product launches. Review quotes and assist with Quoting as required.
  • Drive a total quality culture. Evaluate production and determine ways to improve efficiency while ensuring the achievement of quality standards. Assist with the implementation and management of a total quality program.
  • Define and drive process discipline throughout manufacturing. Support and assist in implementing and managing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor preventative maintenance schedules with maintenance and take timely action on equipment issues to minimize downtime.
  • Develop, lead, mentor and motivate subordinates to develop a high performing professional team and an engaged hourly workforce.
  • Build internal and external relationships through effective communication, exceptional problem-solving, ownership and follow through.
  • Promote and enhance the corporate culture and foster the development and implementation of organizational vision, policies and guidelines and the achievement of corporate goals.
  • Ensure full adherence with all established safety rules and regulations within the department and ensures safety devices are being properly utilized.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Business or a related technical field is required
  • 5 - 10 years is the preferred range of experience for this role, demonstrating a solid track record as a manufacturing manager. Experience in both a high-volume, fast-paced and dynamic production line as well as a low-volume, multi-product, product development production line is required.

  • Strong team leadership skills, effective verbal communication skills, ability to motivate a team to achieve goals.
  • Intermediate level of expertise in ERP systems, reporting and data analysis tools such as Excel
  • Lean / Six Sigma background and experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of a variety of manufacturing production processes and procedures requiring advanced operations and technical skills and knowledge.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills are required.
  • Team attitude; eager to cooperate with others with exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to influence others in a matrix environment.
  • Reliable transportation required to work set schedule.
  • Must be able to pass E-Verify, pre-employment background checks and a 9-panel drug test.
