About This Role:


This position reports directly to the Director of Operations within the College of Engineering and Engineering Institute for Energy and Petrochemical Industries (EPI) and serves as a key leader within the College. The Associate Director of Events and Visits is responsible for providing leadership and supervision for the daily campus visit program and on-campus College and Institute events. This role will involve collaborating with staff, faculty, and students to implement and execute large group visits, small, targeted visits, daily and individual visits, and all on-campus College events. The position also involves providing leadership for the Ambassador program and student staff. This individual will represent the face and spirit of the College by ensuring excellent customer service and maintaining the quality of follow-up and reporting for all prospective visitors to the College of Engineering and Engineering Institute for Energy and Petrochemical Industries (EPI) at Lamar University campus.

Essential Job Functions:


  • Provide leadership and guidance to the visits and events team, ensuring a well-trained team of representatives, overseeing functions such as on-campus programs, visits, and events, including group and individual visits for current and prospective students, coordinating and hosting College of Engineering (COE) and Engineering Institute for Energy and Petrochemical Industries (EPI) events, while mentoring and supervising a diverse group of team members, including the tour guide and COE ambassador programs, and fostering a culture of collaboration, professional development, and accountability to ensure team success and growth.

  • Develop, maintain, and regularly evaluate the annual visit plan to attract top-tier students and industry partners to the College of Engineering (COE) and the Engineering Institute for Energy and Petrochemical Industries (EPI).

  • Foster and oversee partnerships with community-based organizations, high schools, technical centers, 2-year colleges, and industry to broaden the visibility of the College of Engineering (COE) and Engineering Institute for Energy and Petrochemical Industries (EPI) by hosting them on campus.

  • Collaborate closely with Office of Operations leadership to ensure that the department's activities and initiatives are consistent with the institution's objectives, contributing to the overall success of the college.

  • Administer the Industrial Partnership Program, including training sessions and meetings.

  • Manage on-campus experiences and collaborate with industry partners to enhance the programs and community relations of both the College and the Institute.

  • Oversee virtual campus tours and chatbot platforms to enhance online engagement, making recommendations for website and publication improvements to promote campus visit programs and events.

  • Gather and analyze data related to visit and events efforts, ensuring the effectiveness of strategies, and making data-driven recommendations for improvements and enhancements to meet enrollment goals. Leverage data analysis techniques to continuously monitor and report on key performance indicators related to visit and event efforts, as well as student success. Regularly provide comprehensive reports and updates to senior leadership, offering data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions and enhance the effectiveness of visit and event strategies.

  • Develop and oversee the budget for the visits and events department, ensuring responsible financial planning and allocation of resources to support departmental goals, while monitoring and managing project costs meticulously to optimize the utilization of resources and ensure financial efficiency in departmental operations.

  • Other duties as assigned for the benefit of the Office of Operations, College of Engineering, Engineering Institute for Energy and Petrochemical Industries (EPI), and Lamar University.

Minimum Qualifications:





  • A bachelor's degree in Marketing, Engineering, Education, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field is essential, while a Master's degree is preferred.

  • 5 or more years of progressive higher education experience or related customer service field

  • 5 or more years of supervisory and leadership skills

  • Official transcripts are required at the time of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with electronic calendar management and various videoconferencing applications like Outlook, Zoom, MS Teams, MS Office, Slate, etc.
