The Associate Director of Marketing and Recruitment holds a pivotal role within the College of Engineering and the Engineering Institute for Energy and Petrochemical Industries (EPI) at Lamar University. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, this position is instrumental in advancing the recruitment and branding efforts of the College. The Associate Director is responsible for developing, maintaining, and evaluating the annual recruitment plan, with a particular focus on attracting top-tier undergraduate students to the COE and EPI. This role also involves nurturing and managing essential partnerships with community-based organizations, high schools, technical centers, 2-year colleges, and businesses to expand the reach of engineering programs. The Associate Director actively engages with various community stakeholders to create activities and programs designed to prepare students for successful college enrollment. The position also plays a vital role in organizing off-campus recruitment visits and events to attract prospective students to LU and the COE. In addition to these external outreach efforts, the Associate Director offers essential student support by professionally corresponding with prospective students, providing guidance on pre-college preparation requirements, and assisting with the application process. Collaboration with the Lamar University Marketing Team is essential to execute impactful marketing campaigns that elevate the visibility and appeal of the COE and EPI. Collaboration with the Lamar University Enrollment Services Team is essential to execute impactful recruitment that elevate the visibility and appeal of the COE and EPI. The Associate Director is responsible for designing, ordering, and distributing marketing materials, maintaining an inventory of branded items for special events, and creating newsletters to keep students and stakeholders informed about engineering developments. The role also includes the management and maintenance of COE webpages, maximizing the use of social media for student and industry spotlights, and fostering a consistent brand image across all materials. Overall, this position plays a critical role in driving recruitment, marketing, and branding initiatives to support the success and growth of the College of Engineering at Lamar University. The Associate Director of Marketing and Recruitment is a dynamic and influential position that shapes the future of engineering education at Lamar University, attracting and retaining top talent in engineering programs and promoting a strong brand presence for the COE and EPI.



Essential Job Functions:


  • Lead and guide the marketing and recruitment team, overseeing functions such as marketing strategies, recruitment efforts, and communication, while mentoring and supervising a diverse group of team members, including a Coordinator of Student Success, a Coordinator of Marketing, Recruitment, and Communication, and a student staff of 5, and fostering a culture of collaboration, professional development, and accountability to ensure team success and growth.

  • Develop, maintain, and regularly evaluate the annual recruitment plan to attract top-tier students to the College of Engineering (COE) and the Engineering Institute for Energy and Petrochemical Industries (EPI).

  • Cultivate and manage recruitment partnerships with community-based organizations, high schools, technical centers, 2-year colleges, and businesses to expand the reach of the COE and EPI, collaborating directly with area high schools, technical centers, businesses, and other stakeholders to design activities and programs that prepare students for college enrollment at Lamar University's College of Engineering (LUCOE).

  • Organize, schedule, and promote off-campus recruitment visits and events to attract prospective students to Lamar University (LU) and the College of Engineering (COE), collaborating with admissions to attract and admit top-tier undergraduate students to our engineering programs.

  • Assume responsibility for all COE and EPI branding efforts, maintaining a strong and consistent brand image across all marketing materials and communications.

  • Gather and analyze data related to recruitment and marketing efforts, ensuring the effectiveness of strategies, and making data-driven recommendations for improvements and enhancements to meet recruitment goals. Leverage data analysis techniques to continuously monitor and report on key performance indicators related to marketing and recruitment efforts, as well as student success. Regularly provide comprehensive reports and updates to senior leadership, offering data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions and enhance the effectiveness of marketing and recruitment strategies.

  • Correspond professionally with prospective students, offering advice, resources, and referrals to other campus services to facilitate their college application and enrollment processes.

  • Initiate and execute marketing campaigns for the COE and EPI in collaboration with the Lamar University Marketing Team to enhance the visibility and desirability of engineering programs.

  • Oversee the creation and dissemination of both internal and external newsletters to inform students and stakeholders about engineering developments, initiatives, and achievements.

  • Oversee maintenance and continuous update the COE webpages in alignment with Lamar University Standards, ensuring all online content remains current and appealing.

  • Oversee the design, order, and distribution of all marketing publications, including digital and hard copies, in accordance with Lamar University Marketing Standards, ensuring the creation of high-quality materials, and develop an inventory plan to maintain a stock of COE swag items for special events and visitors, guaranteeing a consistent and recognizable brand presence.

  • Maximize the use of the COE's social media presence by featuring student, industry, and faculty spotlights, covering current events, and showcasing student activities to engage and inform the audience.

  • Develop and oversee the budget for the marketing and recruitment department, ensuring responsible financial planning and allocation of resources to support departmental goals, while monitoring and managing project costs meticulously to optimize the utilization of resources and ensure financial efficiency in departmental operations.

  • Collaborate closely with Office of Operations leadership to ensure that the department's activities and initiatives are consistent with the institution's objectives, contributing to the overall success of the college.

  • Other duties as assigned for the benefit of the Office of Operations, College of Engineering, Engineering Institute for Energy and Petrochemical Industries (EPI), and Lamar University.

Familiarity with electronic calendar management and various videoconferencing applications like Outlook, Zoom, MS Teams, MS Office, Slate, etc.
