Job Summary:


The Systems Administrator SME will be responsible for operating and maintaining unclassified installation Organizational Unit (OU) and providing specialized expertise in system administration, storage management, and server operations. The Systems Administrator SME will also lead the Systems Team in accomplishment of duties and day to day tasks.


Job Responsibilities:




  • Systems Team Leadership:




    • Lead a System team to ensure effective collaboration and task execution.




    • Coordinate tasks, duties, and responsibilities of the team to ensure performance of IT service delivery.






  • Infrastructure Operations:




    • Operate and maintain the unclassified installation Organizational Unit (OU).




    • Provide local touch labor for Cyber Center assets within the Network Enterprise Center (NEC) controlled facility.




    • Monitor hardware storage space supporting baseline Installation Campus Area Network (ICAN) services.






  • Data Management:




    • Perform and support backups for each provisioned volume, application data, and transaction log for local recovery.




    • Implement data replication at a remote location for real-time data recovery, consistent with Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements.




    • Conduct performance capacity planning, management, operations, and maintenance of Operational Storage or local common user Application Storage SAN equipment and services.




    • Manage storage utilization, performance reporting, trending, and allocation recommendations.





  • System Administration:




    • Administer system operations and operating systems for local common user application servers and server farms/banks.




    • Install, test, and verify operating system service packs, application updates, and patches on all local common user servers.




    • Perform system backups for each local common user application server.




    • Monitor system logs, security logs, and application logs for each local common user application server.




    • Manage release management for new system releases for NEC managed local common user application servers.




    • Provide troubleshooting and touch labor for local common user application servers.






  • Technical Proficiency:




    • Demonstrate technical proficiency with hardware including servers, NAS, SANs, Microsoft OS’s (Windows Server, Windows 10), VMware ESXi hosts, VCenter, and Microsoft Server applications (SQL Server, SharePoint, Commvault Configuration, and Administration).




    • Diagnose and correct OS and server application problems; build new systems according to Army Gold Master (AGM) standards.




    • Maintain certification in the latest Microsoft Server OS approved by the Department of the Army or DoD.






  • Active Directory and Group Policy:




    • Establish, maintain, modify, and administer system and user accounts in Active Directory.




    • Establish, maintain, modify, and administer group policies in Active Directory.




    • Troubleshoot and correct system problems caused by group policies.






  • Hardware Management:




    • Specify, estimate, and recommend hardware required to support intended server use.




    • Assemble and configure new hardware, diagnose and correct hardware problems, perform upgrades, and install new or replacement hardware.






  • Scripting and Monitoring:




    • Create and run scripts against the OU for data extraction and report production.




    • Monitor space utilization and backup logs proficiently.






  • Backup Solutions:




    • Demonstrate proficiency with Commvault Enterprise Backup software and/or other directed backup methods (VMware snapshots, Nutanix Acropolis replication, Veeam Backup, DELL or VMware Data Protection Solutions, etc.).





Minimum Qualifications: 




  • Highschool plus 8 years' related experience supporting DoD or




  • Associates / Bachelors / Masters (related field) plus 5 years' related experience supporting DoD.




  • In-depth expertise in system administration, storage management, and server operations.




  • Certification in the latest Microsoft Server OS approved by the Department of the Army or DoD.




  • Proficient in Active Directory, Group Policy, hardware management, scripting, and backup solutions.




  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and correct OS and server application problems.




  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.




  • Secret Clearance is required.




  • Current unexpired 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification (ONE of the following):




    • CCNA-Security or




    • Security + CE or




    • CySA+ or




    • GICSP or




    • GSEC or




    • CCND or




    • SSCP or




    • IAT Level III certification is also acceptable (e.g. CASP+, CCNP Security, CISSP or Associate, CISA, GCED, GCIH, CCCSP)




    • One (1) relevant Computing Environment certification such as Azure Administrator Associate, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Azure Security Engineer Associate, or certification in the latest Microsoft Server OS approved by the Department of the Army or approved by the Department of Defense (DoD).
