ABOUT THE POSITION

The County of Riverside's Human Resources Temporary Assignment Program (TAP) seeks Temporary Elections Assistants to support the Registrar of Voters upcoming 2024 March Primary Election.

Schedule: 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday, including weekends, and holidays with mandatory overtime when needed.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
To serve the voting and candidate public by performing a variety of elections services and to perform other duties and services, as assigned, within the confines of elections services.

• 
  DATA ENTRY/PHONES: Primary duties will include registration card entry, vote-by-mail verification, answering phones, proofing candidate statements and ballot information to ensure translation is correct from English to: Korean, Vietnamese, Chinese/Mandarin, or Chinese/Cantonese.
  

** Strong bilingual reading, writing, proofing and speaking ability skills required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Customer service experience which involved meeting the public, obtaining and recording factual information or explaining rules, regulations, policies, or procedures ANDmust be bilingual in one of the following languages:

1) Vietnamese
2) Chinese Mandarin
3) Chinese Cantonese
4) Korean

Knowledge: Perform routine clerical work; learn office practices, procedures and equipment; make simple arithmetic calculations; understand and follow written and oral instructions; establish and maintain cooperative relations with the public.

Ability to: Perform general clerical work; Understand and follow both written and oral instructions as well as established policies and procedures; Perform non-sedentary duties; Regularly lift over 25 pounds; Work in a fast-paced environment

License/Certificate: Possession of a valid California Driver's License may be required.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Testing Requirements:
Bilingual Proficiency: Candidates whose applications indicate bilingual proficiency in one of the following languages: Chinese/Mandarin, Chinese/Cantonese, Vietnamese or Korean will be required to verify their bilingual skills in a proctored test environment.

PLEASE NOTE: Appointees will be required to work any shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidays with mandatory overtime when needed.

Pre-Employment

Probationary Period
As an Approved Local Merit System, all County of Riverside employees, except those serving "At Will," are subject to the probationary period provisions as specified in the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, County Resolution, or Salary Ordinance. Temporary and Per Diem employees serve at the pleasure of the agency/department head.

Temporary employees participate in the 401(a) Temporary and Part-Time Employees' Retirement Plan and are required to contribute 3.75% of salary to the pension plan.
