Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a EDM Operator located in Buffalo Grove, IL.

Reporting to the Tooling Manager, the EDM Operator role involves Inspect parts from previous night, clean and set up next parts, get machines running and then inspect and prep 2nd machine, Drill flush, program and operate EDM machines. Wire EDM and Hole Popping, grinding and basic machine shop skills are a huge plus.

What a typical day looks like:

• Comply with ISO 9001 standards.


• Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the EDM department.


• Perform Preventive Maintenance on the machines in the department.


• Review specifications for tolerances, surface finish and locations.


• Communicate with Group Leader and Manager on status of jobs.


• Time 1st burn, Plan for optimum productivity.


• Return all electrodes, parts and fixtures to the proper place.


• Proof programs for errors.


• Allow for grind stock on components to obtain the correct burn.


• Coordinate projects within the department.


• Inspection of work pieces.


• Common hand tools and inspection gages.


• General tooling equipment


• Work with Engineering to ensure the mold prints are "As Built.”


• Maintain the tooling assigned to the department.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• 8+ years in manual EDM and related field.


• Able to read and interpret blueprints.


• 3 - 5 years in CNC EDM (Electrical discharge Machine) or related field


• High School diploma, military technical training, or equivalent vocational training.


• CNC Repair experience
