POSITION OVERVIEW


The Manger, Fundamentals and Trading Analytics reports directly to the Director of Gas Supply and Trading.  This role manages the team that is analyzing and reviewing all immediate (daily) and short/medium/long term (up to 10 years) perspectives regarding the supply and demand in the US natural gas and power markets.  For natural gas, the person will be responsible for maintaining a view of the pricing dynamics at Henry Hub and in all the natural gas markets that the company participates in.  For power, the person will be responsible for maintaining a view on the ERCOT power market, South Hub, South Load Zone, and national power trends.   


 


RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES



  • Lead the team in their pursuit of market analytics, view development, and trade desk reporting.

  • Provide career development and progression opportunities for direct reports and employees on other teams.

  • Develop and deliver research, trends, economic and other business information and reports to the Gas Supply team in a professional and comprehensive manner.

  • Provide key analysis and recommendations for gas procurement strategy. 

  • For natural gas, develop and communicate the point of view around the immediate/short/medium term supply/demand balance and pricing at both a domestic level and in those regions in which the company participates.  Additionally, make trading recommendations based on analysis. 

  • For power, develop and maintain a comprehensive ERCOT power market view that should include but is not limited to supply & demand trends, regional South Zone dynamics, short-term markets (ERCOT real-time, day-ahead, intramonth), Ancillary Services, forward power markets (both fixed prices & heat rates), and PUCT regulatory environment.  Additionally, make trading recommendations based on analysis.      

  • Develop and maintain up-to-date position and PnL reports for both facilities both in the short-term and long-term.

  • Develop presentations based on analysis that articulates the Gas Supply team’s forward strategies and results achieved to reach a broad audience, including Cheniere senior management, Board of Directors, and various external customers.

  • Support Director, Transport and Storage and Director, Gas Supply on deal analytics.

  • Continuous improvement on existing processes, including automation of existing tasks and build out of additional tools

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: 


Knowledge:


In-depth working knowledge of the ERCOT power market, regional natural gas markets, an extensive understanding of Texas and Gulf Coast Region and macro United States energy markets.  Additional qualifications include critical/economic thinking and strong computer skills.  Working knowledge of Python coding is preferred. 


 


Skills:



  • Proven track record of talent management and development.

  • Ability to build and interpret complex commercial forecasting models (regional and total North America); familiarity with coding preferred.

  • Qualitative and quantitative analysis of global and domestic commodity markets.

  • Excellent presentation, written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization. 

  • Excellent analytical skills, self-motivated and capable of independent achievement.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing market conditions.

  • Business focused, flexible and able to demonstrate teamwork.

  • Willing to undertake short duration business travel as required.


 


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 


Education, Training and Certifications: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business, Engineering, Finance, Marketing, Economics, Accounting, or related field; Master’s Degree preferred. 


 


Experience: At least ten (10) years’ experience in energy markets. Significant energy market analysis experience required, in addition to at least five (5) years’ people management experience.

Team of 2-4 people.

Operates independently in a highly competitive marketplace, within approved guidelines, and with minimum supervision. Delivers pertinent information to executive-level management.


 


WORK CONDITIONS 



  • Job is performed in a typical office environment. 

  • Occasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends.
