JOB SUMMARY:

Transit Product’s laboratory was specifically designed to test Transit industry track fastening and electrification components. The Lab Engineer is responsible for testing across our spectrum of products while closely interfacing with R&D.  This includes managing/performing physical product testing and writing technical reports for customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  1. Perform physical product testing supporting product design and development, as well as production QA testing

  2. Design test apparatus, equipment, and procedures

  3. Provide insight to the engineering team based on testing results and collaborate on generating solutions

  4. Translate results of product testing into technical reports for customers describing all procedures performed during the testing and providing data to show testing results

  5. Maintain calibration status of test and measurement equipment per ISO 9001:2015

  6. Provide technical support for design and product failure analysis based on mechanical and electrical test results

  7. Ensures compliance of all safety and quality standards

  8. All other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, & LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required, preferably Mechanical or Electrical

  • 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in a laboratory required

  • Hands-on experience in digital data acquisition with various sensors (LVDTs, Load cells, Accelerometer’s, etc.)

  • Experience with developing/coding in data acquisition software such as LabVIEW, preferred

SKILLS & ABILITIES:


  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel)

  • Proficient experience in 2D and 3D CAD, preferred

  • Working knowledge of controlling hydraulic test frames

  • Strong problem-solving skills combined with sound engineering judgment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment

  • Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs unassisted
