Type: Full-Time





Job Description:

Performs routine building and/or equipment maintenance.  Operates and repairs equipment and tools.  Inspects mechanical and electrical systems and equipment.  May maintain equipment inventory.  Provides repair costs estimates and materials list to supervisor. 


DUTIES:




  • Building Maintenance.  Performs routine maintenance, to include but not limited to heating and air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, water purification system, small and large electric generators, boiler and/or welding.   Responds to maintenance requests and emergency situations in a timely manner.  May coordinate maintenance efforts with outside contractors.  Maintains a written record of all on-going and completed maintenance.


  • Equipment Maintenance.  Operates and repairs equipment and tools to include but not limited to welders, drills, saws, and other tools.  May repair water pump, irrigation systems, and heavy equipment.


  • Inspection.  Frequently inspects mechanical and electrical systems and equipment to ensure proper functioning after installation and repairs.


  • Cost Estimates.  Provides cost estimates and material lists to supervisor for any required building or equipment repairs.


  • Inventory.  May maintain an inventory of parts, tools, or equipment.


  • Manuals.  Consults and maintains current safety, repair, and operating manuals.


  • Safety.  Follows all University safety rules and regulations. Ensures compliance with applicable codes, and State and Federal regulations. May recommend building or equipment repair and possible equipment or tool replacement to management.

  • Performs other duties as assigned to successfully fulfill functions of the position.

Education/Experience: None required



License: Valid Oklahoma Driver's License



Skills:




  • Basic math and computer skills



  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing



  • Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions



  • Ability to update written records, including computerized records



Preferences:




  •  Mechanical Journeyman License



Working Conditions:




  • Physical: Climbing ladders, working at heights.  Shoveling snow from doorways and sidewalks. Lifting and carrying loads up to 100 lbs. Prolonged standing and walking. Working with insulation such as fiberglass. Climbing stairs, including carrying while climbing. Excessive stooping and bending. Manual dexterity.


  • Environmental: Painting and exposure to chemicals associated with paint. Exposure to odors. Exposure to disagreeable tasks or conditions. Working in very tight areas/cramped enclosures. Exposure to hazardous chemicals. Work may involve night, weekend, shift or overtime work. May be designated as an essential position during emergency closures. May be required to remain on campus overnight during weather or other emergencies.
