Schneider Electric has an opportunity for an Electronics Hardware Design Engineer to be based on-site in our Andover, Massachusetts facility.

This position will require work within an Agile framework with other engineers to design and have oversight of microprocessor-based products, with a heavy emphasis on the electronics, having a good working knowledge of AC/DC and digital circuits, single & 3-phase power systems (415V or less), and communications concepts (100/1000baseT networks, RS232, CAN, USB).

Our Rack and Edge Systems products are datacenter related infrastructure, including rack power distribution, rack automatic transfer switches, network products and more.

What do you get to do in this position?


  • Gathering product objectives and requirements, illustrating them at a conceptual level (block diagrams)

  • Creating various elements of the product (neatly drawn schematics, perhaps PCBs, some programmable devices used on the boards, perhaps contribute to enclosures, harnesses)

  • Bring up & debugging of prototypes

  • Addressing various safety and noise (EMI) issues that may arise

  • Implementation of 3 phase power metering and environmental-sensing elements (temperature, humidity...), switching & protecting between power sources and arbitrary loads, sub-100W SMPS.

  • Preparing Engineering Change Requests, Manufacturing Change Requests or Deviations within our PDM system.

  • Working in a diverse team environment, as well as independently


Qualifications:

  • BSEE and 5+ years' experience

  • Excellent verbal / writing skills

  • Manage time, priorities, self-guided

  • Hands-on with circuits, wiring, assembly, testing, and handling of products (rack-sized to tabletop-sized)


Knowledge and skills:

  • Compliance (EMC, safety), Electrical systems, data center concepts, mechanical design / 3D modeling, NFPA 70E, Arc Fault, HVAC systems,

  • Coding at some level

  • Use of the following tools: Block diagramming (Visio), schematic / PCB (Cadence), CAD (Creo), coding (various - C, C++), SKM Power Tools, Oracle, PDM, web tools, 1GHz o-scopes, 3-phase power generators / loads, precision power meters
