Hearst Magazines is seeking an innovative and advertising-savvy data leader with a strong understanding of the advertising industry, a record of data-driven transformative change and the ability to drive the future of our targeting solutions for digital advertising products. The advertising business at Hearst Magazines must meet the needs of a wide array of clients, while contributing to a premium product experience. 

This leader will join us at an exciting time. You will be responsible for partnering with leadership across data insights, product, and engineering leadership to innovate and build the next targeting products that drive reader relevance and advertiser performance. You will be responsible for launching our targeting products, ensuring targeting is accurate, relevant and performant. Our targeting products should also enhance the reader experience.

This role will lead a cross-functional group of engineers, data analysts, and program managers responsible for building and maintaining advertising targeting products across our multiple Hearst O&O brands and offsite distribution. You have responsibility for setting strategy and priorities, design, execution and results.

Your impact

The Sr Director, Advertiser Targeting and Performance KPIs will report to the SVP, Ad Product and Data will be responsible for and working closely within and outside of the Ad Product and Data team to drive sustainable growth in our advertising business. The Sr Director is responsible for understanding how our ad targeting products perform for advertisers. Relevant problems include creating targeting solutions that reach audiences across our 29+ brands, using a combination of contextual signals, first-party audience data and commerce intent signals. 

This is an ideal role for a multinational and multifunctional leader who enjoys working across product development, engineering, sales, operations and data insights team. An ideal candidate has worked in both high scale tech environments as well as in smaller teams or on new initiatives and is familiar with the internet industry and digital advertising. We need a willingness to dive into the details and move fast to experiment and integrate with existing tools. You will be responsible for developing the roadmap in partnership with engineering and our data insights team, as well as overseeing delivery to market. You must be able to work across multiple subject areas in parallel, and help teams decide when to build new technology or integrate with existing tools.
