Campus Security Officer at The Peck School in Morristown, New Jersey

Job Description:

The Peck School, a Kindergarten through 8th grade independent school in Morristown, NJ, seeks a part-time (20+ hours/week) Campus Security Officer to maintain a safe and secure campus. The ideal candidate is a positive community member with a demonstrated ability to calmly assess situations, exercise sound judgment, and implement timely solutions.

The Campus Security Officer reports to the Director of Campus Safety & Security.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

       • Conducting daily routine patrols of campus facilities including physically checking and securing doors, rooms, and windows to ensure they are properly secured.

      • During morning arrival and afternoon dismissals, monitor assigned areas for pedestrian and
traffic safety.

     • Collaborating with the Director on security and safety for facility rentals and special events and providing coverage for such events, including evenings and weekends.

     • Being a primary responder to a variety of situations including accidents, injuries, vandalism,
suspicious activities, and crises, for the purpose of taking action to resolve immediate safety
concerns.

     • Driving students on the School’s one transportation route.

     • Performing other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
     • Relevant experience in law enforcement or security required.

     • Experience working in a school environment preferred.

The successful candidate must be able to: work flexible hours to meet the safety needs of the schools, work in inclement weather, demonstrate critical thinking skills, work collaboratively, and stand, walk, run, crawl, climb and sit for extended periods of time.
