Assistant Director of the Annual Fund at Montana State University Alumni Foundation in Bozeman, Montana

Job Description:

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Assistant Director of the Annual Fund ("Assistant Director") for the Montana State University Alumni Foundation ("Alumni Foundation") works with and reports directly to the Senior Director of the Annual Fund, as part of the Development Team. The Assistant Director works closely with the Annual Fund team in the strategic development of a multi-channel, donor-centric annual fund program, which includes two donor societies, e-mail communications, and collaboration with several Alumni Foundation departments, including members of the front-line fundraising team and the engagement team. This position requires high collaboration, motivation, and skill in creating and executing compelling annual giving strategies. The Assistant Director will be deeply involved in the growth and expansion of the Alumni Foundation's donor base to achieve shared annual fund goals.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Collaborate with Annual Fund team to further the mission of the Alumni Foundation by contributing to fundraising efforts for key constituent groups, including but not limited to reunions, retirees, faculty, staff, parents and athletics.

2. Work as a collaborator and self-starter who will be responsible for supporting integrated annual giving efforts to build a pipeline of private support for Montana State University ("MSU").

3. Support MSU campus colleagues in creating and maintaining online giving pages through the Alumni Foundation approved online gift site.

4. Work with cross-functional departments and Annual Fund team members to establish and maintain high-priority initiatives with MSU campus colleagues. This will include peer-to-peer campaigns, crowdfunding and Giving Tuesday.

5. Manage the Annual Fund Stewardship programs, including material production and distribution.

6. Work with the Senior Director of the Annual Fund in coordination efforts with the Alumni Foundation Engagement Center.

7. Work independently and contribute to a collaborative environment; demonstrate the ability to work with confidential information and exercise sound judgment.

8. Affect and maintain a professional, proactive, positive, highly collaborative, and performance-centric work environment.

9. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education Required: Baccalaureate degree in a related field.

Required Experience: 2+ years of fundraising and/or marketing experience in a professional setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience: 2+ years in annual giving and digital fundraising.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Exceptionally high level of customer service values and skills.

2. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact positively in written, oral, and personal communications.

3. Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals, including development officers, faculty and staff, and other key stakeholders.

4. Detail-oriented with strong time and project management skills as well as the ability to maintain accurate and detailed reports.

5. Technically competent and comfortable using a variety of software applications including MS Office and data management systems.

6. Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions and recommendations.

7. Eager to play an important role on the annual giving team and to be a part of a mission-driven fundraising operation.

8. Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

1. Demonstrated knowledge of Blackbaud or other CRM systems and familiarity with Thankview, and Graduway/Gravyty.
