The Northwest Stormwater Practice Leader will lead Tetra Tech's stormwater management and green stormwater infrastructure implementation efforts in Washington, and provide technical support throughout all regions of the U.S. This individual will serve in a project and design management role for large stormwater infrastructure and water resource projects, maintain strong client relations, and secure new business, with a goal of growing our stormwater/water resources design practice throughout the Northwest. This individual will capitalize on our substantial existing on-call contracts with municipal, state, and federal clients to identify/target opportunities and build internal and external teams that can effectively compete, win, and deliver innovative projects. The northwest stormwater practice leader will work with the National Stormwater Practice Lead and other practice leaders to expand opportunities across the globe.

Your Role:


  • Provide technical leadership and management for planning and design of projects primarily in the WA area, but also in other states in collaboration with other Tetra Tech offices.
  • Lead stormwater infrastructure project design development, responsible for financial management of projects, ensuring key deadlines are met, and that project team members and design disciplines work together collaboratively and effectively.
  • Recruit, supervise, and mentor technical team members necessary to provide innovative and quality services to a full range of clients.
  • Manage the preparation feasibility studies, design plans, specifications, cost estimates, technical documents, within Tetra Tech risk, quality, and financial management expectations, and meeting the industry standard of care for all deliverables.
  • Work through the existing on-call contracts and secure new contracts with municipal, state, and federal clients to grow the stormwater practice in Washington and the Northwest.
  • Collaborate with discipline leads and National Practice Leaders to assist in growing the stormwater practice on the west coast, nationally, and internationally.
  • Work with national practice leaders to bring lessons learned from national and international project experience to the Northwest as a differentiator for Tetra Tech.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline, advanced degrees and certifications a plus.
  • Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in conducting feasibility studies, responsible charge for the design, and hydraulic analysis of stormwater/water resources projects for municipalities and public entities throughout the northwest.
  • Performed in the role as Engineer of Record for the construction of stormwater/water resources projects.
  • Registered PE (Civil) in the state of Washington. Additional states, including CA, a plus.
  • Ability to lead a multi-disciplined team of engineers and designers in the preparation of construction drawings, details, specifications, calculations, and engineers estimate of probable construction costs.
  • Desired certifications as an Envision Sustainability Professional and Qualified SWPPP Developer.
  • Recent experience with the design of sustainable green stormwater infrastructure, including subsurface storage and infiltration, bioretention areas, permeable pavement, bioswales, green streets, and constructed wetlands.
  • A working knowledge of water quality regulations including NPDES Permits and the Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) programs.
  • Strong project management skills including the ability to manage multiple disciplines and tasks for technically complex projects.

The salary range for this position is approximately $150,000 - $175,000 depending on education, qualifications, experience and work location.
