Job Description:

WPTV, The E.W. Scripps Company NBC affiliate in West Palm Beach, Florida is looking for a positive, proactive, collaborative, and highly engaged Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) to join our team along the Treasure Coast.

We are looking for a storyteller who will be based in the Vero Beach/Ft. Pierce area. The MMJ will be responsible for researching, writing, capturing visual content, and editing stories for use on multiple platforms. Come join a great newsroom with exceptional leadership.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

·       Receives assignments or evaluates news leads and news tips to develop story ideas.

·       Gathers and verifies factual information regarding stories through interviews, observation, and research.

·       Organizes material, determines slant or emphasis, and writes story according to prescribed editorial style and format standards.

·       Shoots video and still photos to illustrate stories.

·       Edits, or assists in editing, videos for all multimedia platforms.

·       Appears on TV during news.

·       Goes live from scenes and events when necessary.

·       Works cooperatively with photographer assigned to story, if one is assigned.

·       Assists news producer in preparing newscast.

·       Assists online staff in preparing multimedia stories.

·       Reports, writes, captures quality visual content, edits, and produces stories for multiple platforms on deadline, such as Internet and digital channels.

      

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

·       BS/BA in Broadcast Journalism or related degree, or equivalent years of experience.

·      Generally, 3+ years experience in related field preferred

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

·       Computer literacy required, including newsroom computer systems.

·       Videography and non-linear editing experience preferred.

·       Knowledge and understanding of broadcast quality camera equipment.

·       Skills in editing video on ENPS computer editing software, or similar software programs.

·       Strong broadcast and AP-style writing skills.

·       Proficient at posting content to various websites and social media.

·       Ability to work independently and self-motivated, able to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment, effectively prioritizing and executing tasks in a high-pressure environment by remaining calm under pressure.

·       Ability to collaborate successfully in a team environment and make decisions quickly during any type of coverage.
