Senior Packaging Coating Specialist
PPG IndustriesMilford Ohio
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate coating specialist to join our dynamic team at PPG Packaging Coatings; located in Milford/Cincinnati reporting directly to the Senior Technical Manager. This unique role requires a blend of scientific acumen and mechanical aptitude, and a deep commitment to innovation and product development. As a Senior Packaging Coating Specialist, you will work in collaboration with our product development chemists, application, and technical service teams to develop top-notch coatings for beverage applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product development chemists to create and optimize coating formulations for beverage applications.


• Utilize our high-tech machines to mimic customer lines and conduct experiments to assess product properties, such as adhesion, durability, appearance, and functionality.


• Analyze data and prepare reports and presentations to communicate results and recommendations.


• Troubleshoot and resolve coating issues and provide technical assistance to customers and internal teams.


• Understand the product manufacturing process and ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards.


• Travel to customer locations to observe and understand their business and application processes and identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.


• Manage your projects from start to finish, taking ownership of all aspects from research to testing and application.

• A master's degree or a PhD in chemistry or engineering, or equivalent


• A minimum of 10-15 years of professional experience in the coatings industry, with a preference for those who have worked specifically with packaging coatings for the beverage markets.


• Extensive knowledge and experience in spray application processes, particularly air-less spray techniques. Demonstrated mechanical skills and the ability to operate laboratory equipment are essential.


• Expert in leading technical development teams and collaborating with various functions within an organization.


• A proven track record in the development of new products, with the ability to adhere to specific timelines.


• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills are required.


• A customer-focused approach and a drive to achieve results.
