Job Description:

Bray’s Research and Development Lab is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Test Engineer for testing of Bray’s valve, control, and accessory products. As a member of the R&D Lab team you will share in our vision of dramatically impacting the quality of all Bray products through safe, efficient, and accurate validation and analysis for an increasing number of internal and external customers.  Bray’s large, and rapidly expanding product portfolio requires extensive internal validation, resulting in the need for vast and various methods of testing.  This position offers a unique opportunity to quickly and directly impact company operations, while allowing room for innovation.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

- Must comply with all safety requirements and procedures set forth by the R&D Lab.

- Proficiency in developing and executing test plans and procedures for evaluating the performance of products, including working with automated test equipment and software.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify testing requirements and define test criteria based on project goals and objectives.

- Design and develop test fixtures and equipment to support testing of products and prototypes, ensuring accuracy, repeatability, and safety.

- Conduct thorough root cause analysis of test failures and discrepancies, and work collaboratively to implement corrective actions.

- Generate detailed test reports and documentation to communicate test results, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders.

- Continuously identifies, quantifies, and implements tools, methods, processes, and equipment that improve the quality, reliability, and productivity of the department.

- Read and interpret wiring diagrams to configure instrumentation for automated testing.

- Utilize Strain gauges and other measurement devices to collect and analyze data, ensuring accurate assessment of product performance.

- Employ additive manufacturing to fabricate test fixtures and components.

Qualifications and Core Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

- Proficiency with SolidWorks is preferred, FEA simulations is a plus.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

- Experience with programming languages such as Python, LabVIEW is a plus.

Performance Standards: Measurements in the areas of quality, safety, attendance, and productivity

Physical Demands and Work Environment (additional information no included below): Exposure to chemicals, fixed ladders exceeding 15 feet in height, heavy objects, extreme temperatures (both hot and cold), liquid nitrogen, and various gasses utilized during testing.  In order to limit the exposure of employees to these hazards, appropriate safety precautions are in place for this position, including but not limited to the following: safety glasses, steel toed boots, ventilation system, SCBA tanks, respirators, fall arrest harnesses, etc.  This position requires a person in good physical health who can adequately and safely perform the above functions.
