Position Title: Fiber Engineering Intern

Role


This Internship is designed to provide leadership-focused, motivated participants an opportunity to learn about the telecommunications infrastructure industry and to be challenged with a meaningful, career-oriented work experience.


Responsibilities



  • Read and decipher construction drawings and engineering prints.

  • Utilize GIS (Geographic Information Systems) programs such as QGIS, ArcGIS Pro, and OSPInsight to plan and design backbone fiber routes.

  • Accurately enter construction drawings and site files into designated GIS system of record (OSPinsight).

  • Provide support for multiple projects working closely with fiber construction and engineering employees.

  • Supervision of projects will involve Crown Castle Fiber employees that are experts in the field of business. They will be responsible to provide all interns hands on work in Crown Castle Fiber systems and tools.

  • Develop and track learnings throughout internship program to present to supervisors on a regular basis.

  • Work with internal team members to understand the overall fiber build process.

  • Update tracking system(s) to ensure that project and/or program status is maintained with complete accuracy. Manage, monitor and communicate all relevant issues to supervisor.

  • Create and distribute correspondence relevant to the team, project or program (internal and external).

  • Maintain accurate and complete files for projects and programs; monitor for integrity and accuracy.

  • Generate system ad hoc reports as requested.


Expectations



  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to present complex information in a clear and simple format 



  • Beginner GIS (Geographic Information Systems) skills (6 months experience preferred in any GIS software, such as ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, et cetera)

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize, and complete assignments in a timely manner



  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet deadlines independently  


Education/Certifications



  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student in pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited higher education institution with an expected graduation date between December 2024 and June 2026


Experience/Minimum Requirements 



  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) from June 3 to August 9, 2024

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. on a full-time, regular basis without additional sponsorship


Reports to: Manager, Fiber Engineering


Work Plans: This role falls into our hybrid work model working in your assigned office Monday through Thursday, and remote on Friday.
