The General Manager is responsible for all aspects of boatyard and marina management, including dock maintenance, boat slips, equipment, leases, rentals, and property to facilitate the fulfillment of financial goals and company initiatives. The General Manager is responsible for cultivating a team environment that provides exceptional customer service to members while directing the management team and ensuring all staff members perform at a consistently high level.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day operations and management of the business
Demonstrate excellent customer service to Members and teammates alike
Supervise and train all marina teammates including coordinating training, mentoring and all onboarding activities
Manage maintenance work done throughout the facility to ensure safe and acceptable property and equipment, as well as esthetics appearance
Coordinates with Marketing team to manage slip and service sales in accordance with brand standards
Manage Member and guest relations effectively and handle escalated issues while working to meet goals associated with Net Promoter Score
Oversee the performance of maintenance on buildings, facilities, docks, lifts, equipment, member areas and grounds.
Sustain and optimize profitability, performance and guest satisfaction
Establish and budget, proactively manage variances and work to create new profit centers
Supervise inventory control for parts and ship stores as required
Maintain positive relationships with tenants, contractors, and local authorities
Comply with all safety procedures OSHA, EPA, DEEP and Department of Labor rules and regulations
Support the management and execution of capital expenditure projects as needed
Work with HR team to hire, train and retain teammates according to established policies and procedures
Support corporate team in the onboarding process of new SHM marinas as needed
Other duties as assigned by Manager
Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.
Wear proper personal protective equipment as required for the task or work area.
Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately.
Technical and Physical Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required
Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
5 years’ relevant experience preferred including at least 2 years of experience in supervisory role
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Teams and Outlook
CMM certification preferred
Experience with budgets, salary administration, accounts payable, accounts receivable and slip leasing preferred
Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
Ability to lift 25 pounds
