Title: Construction Group Lead

Reports To: CEO
Location: Forest Hill, MD (Hybrid, 2-3 days)

Primary Purpose
The Construction Group Lead (CGL) plans and coordinates all activities for the company's ecological construction and stormwater crews and is an experienced construction professional and group leader. They ensure that projects are built to the highest level of quality, on schedule and on budget. The CGL works to ensure all construction staff are working in a safety conscious manner, and have the training, equipment, support, and tools they need to execute their jobs effectively and efficiently. They help develop the team's technical depth, development, and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the construction team.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Group Management

Coordinate daily crew assignments and equipment deployment and send out daily scheduling assignments to the team.
Determine resource needs for construction crews and ensure crews are getting the equipment, materials, and crew members they need.
Review and approve the groups timesheets and ensure charged staff time matches assignments.
Act as a coordinating contact among project managers and field leaders/crews, as needed.
Manage the companies Construction Managers, and assist the Construction Managers, Superintendents, and Foreman with technical site challenges.
Manage the company's estimators, working with management to determine which projects to pursue, and providing technical and pricing support to the estimating team.
Oversee efforts to allocate, track, and monitor vehicles and equipment.
Manage the construction team, their training, and collaborate with them to help them develop personal goals and career paths within the company.
Anticipate and recognize hiring needs and collaborate with HR to pro-actively meet crew staffing needs.
Coordinate staff evaluations for construction function in cooperation with HR.
Cooperate in efforts to systematize and document training protocols, timelines, and modules.


Project and Technical Responsibilities

Model safe techniques and methods.
Promote and enforce adherence to safety protocols and regulations on all sites, with team members and subcontractors.

Partner with HR on safety training program(s).

Provide technical construction support to site supervisors and field crews.
Conduct frequent on-site assessments of construction activities to optimize safety, quality, and productivity.

Assist Project Managers with site assessments, constructability reviews, and pre-construction meetings that enhance efficiencies and inform designs and construction approaches and options, as appropriate.
Lead post-project reviews with teams to continuously improve project implementation quality and efficiency. Distribute lessons learned from jobs to other construction crews.
Verify the accuracy of receipts, tickets, and packing lists related to construction crew purchases.
Cooperate with Construction Managers to ensure vendors/materials service each active site.


Compliance

Cooperate to fulfill Pre-Qualifications, licenses, and certifications, as needed.
Oversee company's vehicle reporting requirements, safety reporting requirements, licensing needs, and weekly safety toolbox talks.
