Veteran Peer Support

Full Time

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Provide Peer Support services to persons who have served in the Military as assigned to caseload.


• Provide Peer Support services and/or access to services to family of someone who is or has served in the Military


• Mentoring through self-disclosure of personal recovery experience to assist with daily living skills, relationship building, identifying support networks and community resources, symptom self-management, and coping skills.


• Assist in planning and implementing recovery group activities as assigned


• Work hours are flexible to meet the needs of the person served.


• The majority of contacts happen out of the office and in community settings.


• Contact with new referral is made within 48 hours of assignment.


• Make all contacts as indicated in tx plan.


• Weekly contact sheets turned in at the end of the workweek.


• Progress notes are completed within 48 hours of service.


• Will make regular contact with the treatment team on shared people in services


• Outreach and relationship building with Agencies that serve people and families of people who have served in the Military VA, DAV, VFW, DAV (and all others in our communities or outside our communities who can be assistance to Military personnel and their family.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be at least 21 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.


• Must have served in the Military


• Must self-identify as a present or former recipient of mental health or addiction services and are well-established in their own recovery (minimum of 1 year).


• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills


• Excellent organizational and time management skills


• Interest and investment in working with Veterans who suffer from mental health or substance misuse issues


• Have completed or will complete any required training within six months of employment.


• Must have a current and valid Kansas driver’s license
