Security Guard (M-F, Swing Shift, 3:30pm-12:00am) at Nelson Laboratories Holdings, LLC in Salt Lake City, Utah

Job Description:

This position participates in the day-to-day physical security of all company facilities. Conducts foot patrols of campus to prevent and detect signs of intrusion; Ensures security of doors, windows, and gates; Watches for and reports suspicious or criminal activity; Monitors and operates surveillance camera systems; Monitors visitors, guests, and others to help prevent theft and maintain security of campus; Writes daily shift reports to document activities and irregularities, equipment or property damage, theft, trespassing, or unusual occurrences/circumstances; Investigates reports of suspicious activity, loss, theft, damage, and/or other criminal incidents on campus; Answers Security phone line; Contacts Police or Fire departments in cases of emergency; Assists staff with personal vehicle lockouts.

Education and experience requirements:

• 3+ years preferred prior work experience in physical security, law enforcement, crime prevention, or U.S. military.
• Current Utah concealed weapons permit required
• Current First AID, CPR Certification required

Essential job functions:

• Execute random patrols of campus property
• Log and document issues in writing
• Be available to Nelson Labs staff for security issues or concerns

Job requirements:

• Must be available to work flexible schedules as needed.
• Must be able to communicate professionally with others in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and in writing, including supervisor(s) and coworkers. Must pass along pertinent information to other guard(s) at end of each shift.
• Must be able to document detailed incident reports on any significant events. May also need to write and complete witness statements for local law enforcement if a crime report is filed.
• Must be certified and qualified to carry a handgun and be proficient in its use, handling, maintenance, and care.
• Monitor and operate surveillance cameras.
• Lock and/or unlock access control gates on campus grounds as necessary.
• Friendly, approachable demeanor with an emphasis on customer service.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills.
• Have reliable transportation to get to and from Nelson Labs campus.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical requirements:

• Must be able to walk, stand, and/or sit for extended periods of time in inclement and/or extreme weather. Climbing of stairs, ladders, obstacles, uneven terrain, etc. is required.
• Ability to visually and physically check doors, windows, vehicles, buildings, open areas, fences, sidewalks, parking lots, etc. Must be able to look for, observe, detect and report potential issues relating to security, safety, suspicious and/or criminal activity.
• Excellent motor coordination skills and eyesight are required.
• Ability to carry and operate a handgun.
• Ability to sit at a desk or computer station to monitor and operate surveillance cameras.
• Must be able to occasionally lift a minimum of 50 lbs. or more.
