Our Product Development team has an internship opportunities for students that are looking for pharmaceutical industry experience in engineering. These opportunities present a chance to be involved in the design and processing of drug products for oral and pulmonary delivery. We are looking for self-starters that will contribute to our multidisciplinary teams and aid in advancing our technologies and the drug products they yield to the market. Those who are sound in fundamental scientific knowledge and methods, can proficiently execute a wide range of techniques and processes with little supervision, demonstrate effective technical writing, and are a reliable team player are expected to be successful.

The program duration can be tailored to the accepted applicants’ schedule (between 3 and 12 months) with flexible start dates to accommodate life and school schedules.

Key Responsibilities


  • Learns and understands how to safely operate a range of instruments and equipment and demonstrates proficiency for achieving quality results​


  • Applies fundamentals of materials, chemistry, and engineering including mass and energy conservation, heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, kinetics, and basic mathematical modeling to assigned problem statements


  • Defines problem statements using model-based hypotheses


  • Maintains an accurate and detailed laboratory notebook for robust data capture and reproducible experimentation details


  • Develops and executes routine work plans with guidance; including routinely manufacturing drug products using necessary unit operations and procedures


  • Follows established workflows and systems, where applicable


  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • Option to work independently on a continuous improvement or technology-advancing project dependent on the duration of the internship


Key Requirements


  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or advanced degree in a physical sciences engineering discipline (i.e. chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, etc.) with at least 40 university credits


  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (out of 4) required


  • Promote safety and demand high quality standards for work being performed


  • Established in mathematical and scientific principles


  • Show curiosity and a solid foundation in hypothesis testing & critical thinking, chemistry & material science, and data quality & integrity


  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills, and be team-oriented
