The Watershed Agricultural Council (WAC) seeks 6 Seasonal/Temporary employees to perform various duties as part of the Watershed Agricultural Program (WAP) serving farms within the NYC Watershed. Five (5) of the positions will be Nutrient Management soil samplers who will perform the duties of soil sampling and data collection. One (1) position will be a WAP Technical Intern who will perform the duties of Best Management Practice (BMP) installation, repairs and inspections. Other duties will entail Whole Farm Plan monitoring, soil sampling and BMP data collection.
These are 10-week, 40 hours a week summer positions that pay $16.80 per hour. Must have dependable vehicle, insurance and a valid N.Y.S. drivers license. Will be reimbursed for mileage incurred on the job. Deadline March 15, 2024. EOE
The Nutrient Management Intern will assist the nutrient management team in serving farms within the
New York City watershed. The intern will be exposed to a nationally recognized Whole Farm Planning
Program and be able to observe best management practice implementation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collection and submission of soil samples
Collection of field data.
Assist planners in collecting information; including but not limited to manure
spreader calibration, manure samples, and field data.
Maintain, in good condition, any equipment associated with the position.
Act as a liaison between the planning teams and producers as directed.
All other duties as assigned.
Basic Requirements:
Minimum of high school education.
Must have own dependable vehicle with proof of insurance.
Must have a valid N.Y.S. drivers license.
Self-Driven and motivated individual.
Reporting Relationships:
Works under the direct supervision of the Nutrient Management/Precision Feed
Management Coordinator or his/her designee.
