SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Organize and oversee the schedules and work of the Quality Control department at the facility including the direct daily supervision of 2-3 staff.  Responsible for hiring, setting performance goals and deadlines, monitoring employee productivity, and providing consistent coaching feedback of staff.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Participate in FSMA, Preventive Controls Quality Initiatives, Frozen Dessert Development projects, and related work as necessary.

  • Assures KPFG application of Process Control systems for Food Safety.

  • Audits facility for food safety compliance (including but not limited to production, sanitation, and maintenance activities that can impact food safety).

  • Analyzes Plant and Quality measurement and makes recommendations for improvement. Incorporates lab competency testing as needed.

  • Handles or controls analytical testing for the New Sharon Facility.

  • Ensures that a proper audit protocol is in place to monitor production line checks.

  • Audits the facility and associated warehouses, to monitor compliance with state, federal and company Good Manufacturing Practices.

  • Assists in the assessment and disposition of “non-compliant” product for both raw materials and finished goods.

  • Leads all internal and third party audits and preparations. Assists with implementation of all corrective actions resulting from audits

  • Actively involved in Crisis Management Team including conducting or participating in mock recalls

  • Maintain orderly files for correspondence, reports of conformance and non-conformance, procedures, etc.

  • Participates in resolution of service issues for customers in regards to quality issues.

  • Coordinates schedules of New Sharon QC Personnel, to ensure conformance to requirements and efficient workflow for processes including, but not limited to, Customer Audits, 3rd Party Audits, Internal Audits, HACCP Reviews, Microbiological, Sanitation, and Mock Recalls. This includes but is not limited to BRC readiness.

  • Participates on the HACCP / Food Safety Plan Team and documents all HACCP / Food Safety program changes

  • Participates in and documents the education and adherence by all employees to all company and plant policies including Food Safety, HACCP, and GMP related activities.

  • Educates the Facility on industry food safety standards and expectations.

  • Works with Ops in developing and maintaining an active and complete Continuous Improvement Program (along with corrective actions related to NCRs).

  • Responsible for the effective and efficient completion of all Quality lab work required for customers (internal and external).

  • Ensures that the proper line audit protocols are in place and established to monitor production line checks. Audits those line checks.

  • Enforces traceability requirements.

  • Ensures that all transactions in Lab Soft and AX align with QC expectations.

  • Maintains all company policies and ensures that all required documentation is complete.

EDUCATION:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Food Science, Microbiology or related field preferred

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:


  • 3+ years’ experience in a Food Manufacturing or Liquid Processing facility

  • Prior Supervisory experience a plus

  • HACCP certified preferred; must have broad knowledge of HACCP, GMP’s and SSOP’s.

  • Basic computer skills for creating simple queries, spreadsheets etc.

  • Labsoft or Microsoft Dynamic AX knowledge preferred

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written

TRAVEL:


  • Occasional travel is required for meetings, training, conferences, etc.
