This position is onsite: Dallas, TX

Summer internship: 1 - 2 Semesters, (Hours complimentary with school load; usually 12-20 hours per week)

Position Summary:

Position Summary: We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic intern to join our team. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop skills in the engineering department such as verification of product measurements, testing, SolidWorks drawings and models. This internship will provide valuable insight into the building materials industry and exposure to various aspects of Gibraltar's operations.

You will be joining a highly advanced intern work study program. Interns over the years have joined the Gibraltar team or gone on to highly successful careers. During your time as an intern, you will experience hands-on real-world engineering work. You will learn best practices and skills that will propel you ahead of your peers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Write or modify production work instructions and quality control documents.
  • Plan quality control activities and report results.
  • Measure and inspect physical parts for conformance to a drawing or specifications.
  • Revise models and drawings in SolidWorks (tolerances, formats, dimensions, etc.)
  • Design and implement quality systems or process improvements.
  • Coordinate quality projects involving the Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain Departments.
  • Other quality and engineering related duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:


  • Must be a Junior, Senior, or Master's Student in an Engineering Program at an accredited university. Preferred field of study (but not limited to):

    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Manufacturing Engineering
    • Industrial Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Quality Engineering
  • Proficient computer skills including SolidWorks, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detail-oriented, Organized, and Confident.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in project management, preferred.
