The Opportunity

The Sustainability Intern gathers data to develop and support recommendations for the organization's sustainability goals. This includes identifying and measuring specific metrics that relate to sustainability such as: waste management / recycling programs, energy efficiency, sustainable building practices, corporate social responsibility policies, and sustainable supply chain practices.

What you'll do


  • Identify potential sustainability initiatives to maximize the organization's positive social impact and minimize negative environmental impact.



  • Gather data from the organization as it relates to environmental measurements to determine a carbon footprint.



  • Create reporting tool to compare company data against benchmark metrics.



  • Aggregate and validate data that will be reported to internal stakeholders.



  • Document a framework that will facilitate on-going tracking and reporting.



  • Support the organization's Corporate Social Responsibility Committee in meeting goals for developing a formal CSR Program.



  • Support the organization's VP of Supply Chain to develop and implement

What we need


  • Knowledge of current sustainability industry initiatives, trends, and regulations pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in:

    • Economics;
    • Environmental Geosciences;
    • Environmental Science;
    • Environmental Studies; or
    • Operations & Supply Chain Management



  • Familiarity with CSR best-practices related to environmental reporting/auditing.



  • Interest in internal and external reporting, metrics tracking, financial analysis and communications.



  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with technical reporting.



  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
