The ideal candidate for this role is a successful senior technical leader who is a team player with data driven decision mindset within large enterprises practicing platform engineering and site reliability engineering, comfortable collaborating with executives, large engineering teams, and individual engineers. She/He/They will have helped organizations navigate key industry transformations around DevOps, Continuous Delivery, and migration to Service-based, Cloud-native, and Reactive Architectures. She/He/They can clarify deeply the value proposition of each as well as implementation details: the intersection of people, process, and technology required to achieve such transformations. The candidate must have a deep software development background and have experience leading product development and operational responsibilities for multi-tenant SaaS applications or managed services (a "you build it, you run it" culture).



About Team:



Building the right technology foundation for Infrastructure & platforms is vital to success at the scale of Walmart. Our team builds and maintains the foundational technologies that support the tech organization. Included in this are data platforms, enterprise architecture, DevOps, cloud computing, and infrastructure. All of these products and services are supported by scalable and powerful infrastructure, ensuring a secure and seamless employee and customer experience across stores, digital channels, and distribution centers.



What you'll do:



  • Oversee domain modeling for organization in the context of the broader scope and contract definitions to ensure loose-coupling and separation of concerns between subdomains. Work with product and program management, engineers, and senior leaders to clarify and communicate implementation and technical vision. Facilitate collaboration across platform teams for delivery on the vision.

  • Guide technical team(s) on coding patterns, languages and frameworks in line with evolving trends in the industry (Ex: reactive vs. imperative etc.) and to achieve scalability and security requirements(Applicable to IC & PL).

  • Drive Implementation of telemetry features by determining data/metrics requirement within the domain (Applicable to IC & PL).

  • Support ad-hoc reviews of software code to ensure baseline mitigations for known risks. (Applicable only to IC).

  • Participate in POC and API/Contract development activities.

  • Perform code and test reviews for entire product/system and ensure the product is meeting business requirements, non-functional requirements, low-maintainability, high-availability and high-scalability needs (Applicable only to IC).

  • Oversee the codes executed by team in line with specified technical/business requirements (Applicable only to IC). Mentor and collaborate with teams for automation of repetitive and routine tasks in CI/CD pipelines or any other process across the domain (including operational toil elimination). Mentor and collaborate with teams to drive an acceptance-test-driven methodology and culture.

Technical Analysis Methodology and frameworks for risk analysis, cost analysis, reliability modeling; Business objectives; Classification of requirements; Domain Knowledge; User stories concepts; Functional / Non-Functional Requirements; Scoping and Estimation techniques



Architecture Acumen Software Architectural principles; Systems and environment behavior; Architectural styles and patterns; Architectural standards; Non-functional System performance parameters; Technology Strategy.



Security Architecture Knowledge: Secure Software Development, Data Protection, Cryptography, Key management, Identity and Access Management; Industry Standard Authentication mechanisms; Cloud security and Governance tools; Audit, compliance standards; Static Code Scanning Tools; High level Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT); Legal policies (e.g., SOX, GDPR, GLBA, etc.).

The annual salary range for this position is $169,000.00-$338,000.00


Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.


Additional compensation for certain positions may also include:


- Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location)


- Stock equity incentives
