Job Description:

Maintenance Manager oversees equipment and facilities maintenance operations. The manager plans, directs and monitors preventative and corrective maintenance and repair activities to ensure the company's buildings, facilities, machinery, and equipment operate reliably and efficiently. This key role supports the development of a best-practice company culture that prioritizes safety, quality, and lean manufacturing.

Key duties include:

Supervises and coordinates the work of the maintenance mechanics. Leads and develops all maintenance personnel for career growth and retention.
Participation in the Safety Management Team and all safety and environmental programs in coordination with established policies. Safety is the #1 priority.
Lead new/existing equipment planning/research/install.
Oversees the maintenance and repair of all mechanical equipment pertaining to the facility, including but not limited to, packaging, shipping, and manufacturing equipment, in accordance with cGMP procedures.
Oversee the general facility maintenance such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical, housekeeping, landscaping, etc.
Contribute to departmental CAPEX, ROI, etc. to meet long-term capacity and utilization goals.


GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead the Maintenance and Facilities Maintenance teams and is responsible for ensuring the machines and accessory equipment are operational to achieve plant performance goals through effective problem resolution, labor utilization, repairs, and continuous maintenance improvements.
Ensure departmental performance objectives (i.e., KPI's) are achieved. Oversight of maintenance & facilities functions to drive performance of value stream; and direct activities to achieve operational excellence. This is to be achieved by standardizing processes, and procedures to reduce complexity.
Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems to minimize unplanned downtime, to anticipate & solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement. Develop, implement, and manage a total productive maintenance program for all plant and facility equipment.
Manage the hiring, firing and maintenance of a diverse and effective maintenance workforce. Responsible for career development / planning, training, performance, and development/coaching discussions with team members. Lead, manage, and develop the maintenance team according to our core values. These include reliability, collaboration, fun, sustainability, innovation, continuously learning, and company with heart.
Contributor to plant cleanliness and organization (5S) expectations and practices.
Responsible for the department budget plan and control. Determine capital budgets and equipment needs for department and execute action plans to implement to meet long term capacity and customer demand. Develops capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost, and cycle times.
Demonstrate safety leadership. Ensure actions and initiatives within the Maintenance team are in alignment and in support of the facilities safety program. Take immediate action to resolve safety concerns. Performs internal audits and evaluates the department's procedures, facilities, and equipment to identify unsafe conditions for improvement.
Manages inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment.
Performs negotiation with vendors and contractors to obtain cost-effective and high-quality service.
Perform other assigned duties as may be required in meeting company objectives.
Works with Operations Manager, Engineering Manager, Supply Chain Manager, and HR Manager for daily operations and business needs. Responsible for reporting maintenance issues and corrections to the team and ensure compliance training for the company with new equipment and safety procedures.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in maintenance, engineering, or a related field. Substantial relevant experience may be substituted for a degree.
Five (5) or more year of experience with quality assurance/control in a manufacturing environment.
Computer knowledge, including ERP and EAM/CMMS.
Proficient in people management and strategic planning. Direct experience with validation, problem solving, and risk tools and processes.
Proven ability to develop and implement processes from the ground up and manage multiple projects.
Able to work in a fast-paced team environment with an extreme sense of urgency and a high degree of flexibility and tolerance for change.
Experience reading mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic blueprints. Experience in part fabrication and workshop tools for manufacturing environment.
Knowledge on how to dismantle machines, equipment, or devices to inspect, access, and remove defective parts to assist troubleshooting with all maintenance personnel.
Availability for off-hours calls during emergency situations.
