Extension Agent/Family & Consumer Sciences & 4-H - several throughout Montana

General Responsibilities: The primary focus for the agent in these fulltime positions will be to provide leadership and educational programming in the disciplines of Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) and to provide program leadership for the 4-H/Youth Development program. Some of the positions are ag-related.

Openings in Custer County (Miles City), Fergus County (Lewistown, MT), Ft. Belknap Reservation (Harlem, MT), Ft. Peck Reservation (Poplar, MT), Powell County (Deer Lodge, MT), Richland County (Sidney, MT), Roosevelt County (Culbertson, MT), Rosebud and Treasure Counties (Forsyth, MT), Yellowstone County (Billings, MT).

Specific Responsibilities:

• • Plan, implement and evaluate an educational programs
  • Involve local citizens and community organizations in identifying needs and priorities, targeting new audiences, and developing and implementing appropriate and responsive educational programming.
  • Build and maintain coalitions with community boards and organizations.
  • Partner with local, state and national organizations and committees appropriate to the clientele of county.
  • Provide leadership for the 4-H/Youth Development program in the county.
  • Cooperate with other Extension agents in cross-county programming efforts.
  • Share responsibility with other Extension staff in implementing and maintaining a balanced, interdisciplinary Extension program.
  • Utilize all available media sources, including electronic mail, the internet and other advancing technology, to communicate with MSU Extension staff and others, and to provide information to clientele.
  • Assure compliance with civil rights and affirmative action policies.
  • Comply with all Extension, federal, state, university and county reporting requirements.
  • This position, at times, requires night and weekend work. The position also requires extensive reading, frequent travel throughout the county, occasional travel throughout the state of Montana, and travel to and from programs. In addition, this position requires using a variety of teaching methods, and handling and operating a variety of demonstration and educational equipment.

Conditions & Benefits: This appointment includes participation in TIAA-CREF, coverage for health and life insurance, Social Security, Workers' Compensation and Unemployment Compensation. This position will not be on a tenure track unless filled above the Bachelor's Degree level. This position, if filled at the Master's degree level, will be tenure-track. A successful candidate without a Master's degree will be required to complete their Master's degree, in a program area relevant to their Extension position, within six (6) years of their start date. Failure to do so may result in termination.

General Information: This position is administratively responsible to our regional department heads, through the hiring authority of the Executive Director of MSU Extension.
