Job Description:

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Riverside County Executive Office is looking for a dynamic, energetic intern who is eager to learn about County operations. The successful candidate should be willing and committed to help with tasks assigned by a supervisor. The intern will be involved in upcoming projects as well as assist with daily tasks. They will be working closely with Executive Office Analysts to conduct research, capture data and attend meetings. The primary objective of this internship is to provide the intern with an opportunity to observe and/or participate in all aspects of the County operations.

The position will provide a hands on experience in dealing with County policy and legislation and will also get experience with projects affecting County residents and how those are navigated. The learning objective of this internship is to provide practical, hands-on experience in county government, policies, and procedures. The intern will have the opportunity to observe the inner workings of county government, and learn best practices for effective communication, teamwork, and time management. By the end of the internship, the intern should have a comprehensive understanding of County government operations and be equipped with skills that can be applied in future academic or professional pursuits.

The hybrid student internship position is based in Riverside with a flexible work week consisting of approximately 20 hours per week. The selected candidate can anticipate the internship to span one year and three months.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Under supervision, assists and participates in the work performed by employees of a specific profession; through participation, receives supervised work experience in a specific professional vocation; and performs other related duties as required.

The intern will be responsible for, but not limited to:


  • Working closely with Executive Office Analysts to conduct research

  • Capture data

  • Attend meetings

  • Participate in all aspects of the County operations

  • Help with tasks assigned by a supervisor



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average : 2.5 GPA required. Proof of most current unofficial/official transcript with cumulative GPA must be provided at time of application .

Education: Applicants must be currently enrolled/attending school at an accredited college or university in a Bachelor's degree program or recent college graduates are eligible to intern for up to 1 year (12 months) from their graduation date. Graduation date is not to exceed a 12-month maximum during the duration of the internship.

Areas of Study : Public or Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Studies or similar, Accounting, Finance, Public Policy, or Political Science.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Knowledge in Microsoft 365 products, excel, word, etc

  • Research skills

Desired Qualifications :

  • Be able to work independently

  • Be able to report on research findings
