Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

TranSystems is seeking an early career transportation planner or traffic analyst with 0 to 5 years of experiences to support a variety of planning, traffic and design projects in the Central region focusing on Texas.

 

General Duties & Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.


  • Conduct planning and traffic analysis for various of projects

  • Prepare exhibits, graphics, and maps to support long range transportation planning

  • Write and present formal and technical reports, working papers and correspondence

  • Support planning team in the development of public and stakeholder presentation materials

  • Working independently to execute specific phases or aspects of project. Must be able to coordinate responsibilities with the team and/or team leader.

  • Assure that the project is completed within the allocated period of time and within the budget that has been assigned

  • Plan and execute project meeting

  • Maintain professional and technical, skills by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies

  • Assist or participate in preparation of business proposals, scope, or fee

  • May be asked to participate in non-design engineering activities such as surveying, CADD production, and field data collection

  • Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:


  • Strong analytical skills and experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team to complete project deliverables. Ability to organize and manage multiple projects, and self-motivated to meet project deadlines.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university

  • Proficient in GIS software, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Powerpoint) and graphic software

  • Knowledge of the MUTCD, AASHTO Green Book, Highway Capacity Manual, ITE Trip Generation Manual

  • Knowledge of various capacity analysis software, such as Highway Capacity Software (HCS), Synchro and VISSIM

What we’d prefer for you to bring to our firm:


  • Master’s or Ph.D. Degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, or related field from an accredited university

  • Internship in Civil Engineering or related field

  • 1 to 5 years’ experience within the transportation industry.

  • Pursuing AICP or PE license preferred

  • Willingness to cross train and learn other disciplines

  • Experience preparing materials for and participating in public engagement activities.

  • Works with a team to achieve a common goal and deliver projects successfully.

  • Software requirements: ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Suite, Synchro, VISSIM, FREEVAL, Cube, TransCAD, PowerBI, Tableau

  • Experience with crash analysis, traffic capacity analysis and travel demand modeling preferred

  • Experience using at least one of the traffic analysis software preferred including HCS, Synchro, Vissim, Cube and TransCAD

  • Experience with gathering and analyzing census and other socioeconomic data

  • Familiarity with other transportation related datasets such as Bureau of Transportation

  • Experience working on Planning and Environmental Linkages studies, long range transportation studies, IAJRs, feasibility studies, mobility/livable center studies preferred

  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
