Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

SCOPE OF JANITORIAL WORK

North Building & DC Areas

Cleaning Frequency 5 Times Per Week (Monday through Friday)

Employees must wear safety glasses and hearing protection in plant area

Leave doors the way they are found. Lock office doors that are found locked

1. OFFICES/CUBICLES

Do Not Clean Whiteboards

A. DAILY

Empty waste and recyclable containers, Do Not Empty shredders

Spot-clean all glass of interior doors and offices

Dust and spot clean cleared desktops and horizontal surfaces

Spot clean walls and switch plates

Remove spots, spills, and stains from carpet as possible

Vacuum high traffic areas of carpet

Sweep and mop floors

Clean/sanitize drinking fountains

Check for cobwebs

Arrange chairs

B. WEEKLY

Dust high ledges, sills, and moldings, including picture frames and wall hangings

Dust low ledges, sills, moldings, desks, computers & monitors, tables, filing cabinets, and TVs.

Vacuum all carpet wall to wall

Wipe down/dust open areas of desktops and workstations

Dust filing cabinets and overhead cubicle cabinets

Remove fingerprints from doors, frames, light switches kick and push plates

Vacuum chairs and couches

Clean/sanitize phones

Clean door glass

C. MONTHLY

Dust ceiling vents (reachable up to 8 high)

Edge vacuum carpet

Clean/sanitize drinking fountains

Check for cobwebs

Arrange chairs

Notify facility manager of any stains in carpet (If stains cannot be removed)

2. LUNCHROOM

A. DAILY

Empty waste and recyclable, co-mingle containers, replace liners as needed

Damp wipe / disinfect countertops, sinks, tabletops, and microwave inside and out

Spot clean cabinets, walls, and switch plates

Clean, disinfect, and polish drinking fountains, spot clean adjacent walls

Sweep / dust mop all hard surface floors

Damp mop / disinfect all hard surface floors

Arrange chairs and pick up newspapers, etc. left behind (discard any food items left out on tables

and counters)

Clean and sanitize tables and chairs

Refill soap and napkin dispensers

Refill Sanitizer spray bottles.

Wipe down stainless steel

Wash dishes in kitchenette including coffee carafes

Clean the front of the refrigerators

Refill fork/spoon/knife dispensers.

Gather and organize reading materials

B. WEEKLY

Dust high ledges, sills, and moldings including picture frames and wall hangings

Dust low ledges, sills, and moldings

Dust / damp wipe fronts of and tops of vending machines and appliances

De-scale sink fixtures

Wipe down chairs and chair legs as needed

Wash fronts of cabinets

C. MONTHLY

Damp wipe chair and table bases completely

Dust ceiling vents (reachable up to 8 high)

Wipe down walls, baseboards, and corner guards

Sweep under vending machines

3. RESTROOMS AND LOCKER-ROOMS

A. DAILY

Remove trash from containers

Refill toilet, hand towel, soap dispensers (Vendor managed supplies all soap and paper products)

Clean and sanitize urinals, toilets and seats, sinks, dispensers, counter tops, and all bright work and polish dry

Clean and polish mirrors and chrome fittings

Spot clean walls, doors, and doorframes

Spot clean push plates and polish dry

Sweep / dust mop hard floors

Damp mop / disinfect hard floors

Use disinfectant spray in restrooms

Sanitize the interior and exterior of the sanitary containers

B. WEEKLY

Acid clean / de-scale inside of urinals and toilets

De-lime all fixtures

Spot clean and dust partitions

Dust high ledges, sills, and moldings including tops of metal partitions

Dust low ledges, sills, and moldings

Dust door grills, ceiling exhaust vents, and air distribution units

Dust / damp wipe baseboards and ledges

Refill feminine hygiene dispensers weekly or as needed

Clean and sanitize showers bi-weekly

C. MONTHLY

Damp wipe / disinfect metal partitions

Dust ceiling vents (reachable up to 8 high)

Clean walls

Wipe down lockers

4. FIRST AID ROOM

A. DAILY

Remove trash from containers

Refill toilet, hand towel, soap dispensers

Clean and sanitize sinks and fixtures

Clean and polish mirrors and chrome fittings

Spot clean walls, doors, and doorframes

Spot clean push plates and polish dry

Sweep / dust mop hard floors

Damp mop / disinfect hard floors

Use disinfectant spray

B. WEEKLY

De-lime all fixtures

Dust high ledges, sills, and moldings including tops of metal partitions

Dust low ledges, sills, and moldings

Dust door grills, ceiling exhaust vents, and air distribution units

Dust / damp wipe baseboards and ledges

C. MONTHLY

Dust ceiling vents (reachable up to 8 high)

Clean walls

5. WALKWAYS AND RAILINGS IN PLANT

A. DAILY

Dust mop and vacuum green walkway area. Up to yellow part just past sink area

B. WEEKLY

Dust handrails and wipe as needed

6. SPECIALTY WORK

A. WINDOWS

Squeegees clean all entrance window glass inside and outside (monthly)

Wash windows on front side of building

B. FLOORS

Drivers area and shipping and receiving (quarterly)

Sweep and auto-scrub concrete painted aisleways (quarterly)

C. CARPETS

Hot water extract/dry clean carpets throughout twice per year (spring/fall)

Education & Experience

Performs work under direct supervision. Handles basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter. Typically requires a high school diploma and 0 to 2 years of experience.
